Question about InFocus IN3104 DLP Projector

1 Answer

I have a IN3104 InFocus projector that will not always turn on. When this happens the amber light blinks like it is powering down. If I unplug the projector and then plug it back in then it will power up OK. It has firmware V1.0.2.2

It has been working right for a year and 10 months. The problem is some times when it is powers off it does not stop blinking. It powers off about 2/3 correctly. I have tried different remotes with the same results.

Hello
It seems to be no fault to your projector.
Power LED blinks in amber colour means:-

The power button has been pressed to

turn the projector off and the fans are
running to cool the projector.

To turn the projector off, press the Power button on the remote or keypad.

The lamp turns off and the LED blinks amber for 1 minute while the fans

continue to run to cool the lamp. When the lamp has cooled, the LED lights

amber and the fans stop. Unplug the power cable to completely power off
the projector.
This is the normal process, and not the fault. Try to switch in on after some time. if you again fails to switch it on, the microswitch [POWER] inside your projector may got strucked and not gets released. Replace the switch with same type will solve your projectors' problem. OK.

    Hello
I've given you that advices from the user manual of your projector itsef. it clearly specifies the blinking sequence you describes in your post. There is no other problem reports it it for this blinking sequence. The ony fault I assumes and sure is the microswitch porobel I decribed in my solution.. I've also owns one projector of your model It also seems like this when shuts off. That is why i assure you that it must be the microswitch probelm in the projector. Not with remote control
Just check one proceedings more. Keep away your remote control out of reach of the projector, and operate it with its own controls, and see whether this fault still perists of not.; and make sure that your remote control sends worng infrared signals to it. You can follow the manual of your projector. If you haven't one with you, please send me your email address and I'll send it to you by mail. I've with me the manual in adobe acrobat format; a printable version. OK.

Hi. I've had my InFocus LP500 projector for about nine years. Twice its power supply has been replaced (usage) but never its lamp. The projector has been used regularly, handled with care and cleaned from...

i was thinking of a different model, but I'll be honest, if you are sure your lamp is good and ALL of the fans are on, then it probably is the power supply acting up again.

My projector won't turn on, solid amber light

main board issue. could be zero volt ground problem. if that's the case, all you need is a jumper wire from the power supply to the main board, but you have to know where to put it. best to send it to an infocus service center. try www.avsolutionsny.com. they're really good.

My infocus IN1 projector won't turn on anymore.

Hi,
It may be the lamp is out. Normally a projector will try & fire the lamp 3-5 times then shut down with a different color light like amber or red. If the lamp doesn't light then it could be the lamp or perhaps the lamp ballast that starts the lamp has failed. A stuck fan also causes similar symptoms. There's 2-4 fans in the projector if one is stuck or bad it will turn off within 5 seconds or so after the lamp lights.
Does your lamp light at all? Are the lights a different color after it shuts down? Answers to these questions help figure out what's wrong though it's impossible to say for sure without looking at it. I service almost all Infocus projectors if you would like a quote please reply with your email address or write me at prmhelp@earthlink.net
Good Luck,
Jim

Infocus lp530

I called InFocus and was walked through several steps to determine if it was a bad cable or an internal problem. My InFocus unit would power up and stay powered up with no problem until I connected it to the computer using the analog computer cable (blue connectors). They had me try it with a different computer and then with the S-Video cable. Each time the InFocus unit powered down within seconds of connecting to the computer. The problem is internal. The unit had to be sent to InFocus for repair ($180). If the unit works with the S-Video cable then your problem is a bad cable.
