You might try updating your driver by going to D-Link-Drivers.PerformerSoft.com

If you have a modem on the other end, it could also be the modem.
There may be a firmware upgrade on the router. This could be found through D-Link.
Is the router holding the setup or is there another device?

It could also be the signal is dropping below the threshold and may not be your equipment at all.
In that case you should contact your ISP they may have a problem with signal or the line voltage.
Your ISP would be the first contact because troubleshooting requires the tools they have available
and we are speculating without direct contact with you.

It could be a bad router.

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

My dlink dsl-2540u router not connect to the internet. Dsl led blinking & sometimes totaly off.

Contact your ISP immediately- the issue you have is called no sync. Basically with the DSL led going completely off- that would point to a bad modem, however the fact that you have no sync otherwise indicates your DSL provider may need to service your DSL line.

My DSL2640r connects to nintendo wifi is inconsistent, could somebody help me?

Try switching your wifi channel to either 1 or 11, these work best for the wii as they don't interfere with other channels. Which can be a problem if there is a lot of wireless routers close to you. Here's a troubleshooting guide if that didn't work. http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/onlineWirelessRouterTroubleshooting.jsp

The DSL light is green but blinking and the Internet light is not even coming on. All computers in house get the wireless signal and says the internet is working, but we don't have internet access.

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa! What you are experiencing right now is what they called NO SYNC in ISP term. That means that your router is not getting any signal from the server. Please try to follow these method for you to be able to fix the problem.

1. Turn Off the router.

2. Check the DSL cable, the one that is connected from the router to the wall outlet.

3. Check if there's any device between them and remove it.

4. Try to switch the end of the cable.

3. Try to use another cable if possible.

5. Power on the router and wait until the DSL light goes steady.

6. If nothing happens, try to reset the router by pushing the reset button at the back of it.

7. Press and hold it for 30 seconds while the router is on.

8. Turn off the router and after 30 seconds, turn it back on.

If the DSL light is still blinking, there's a possibility that the problem is with the router itself or the line outside your house going to the server itself.

Hope this information will help. Thank you for using Fixya!

DSL loses signal during VOIP call.

hi,

i worked for verizon for two years and I encounter this problem many times,to tell you honestly, its not with you internet connection since if you'll notice, while you are connected to the internet and you make a call or call someone, its interrupted... Obviously, its the phone itslelf, the signal comng from the phone is different from the signal of the internet...thats the reason why you need a modem to convert the signal coming from the phone line to make it work for internet,,,what I suggest is you change the DSL plan from the Dry Loop to the regular dsl with the phone...

thanks and God Bless

I have an AT&T Modem; having trouble with internet connectivity

It is OK to keep putting the UN and PW in. However you shouldn't have to. I suggest having a tech come to your home and have them do a signal test both at your jack and outside with your home unplugged from your service box. If there is a big difference in the numbers then you're simply loosing signal due to signal bleed inside. This is a simple fix. Have them isolate some wires in your jack and place a DSL filter outside. Then your DSL signal will go straight to your modem and not bounce all over your home. This will NOT affect your phone.

Intermittent ADSL connection

The DSL light blinking or going out indicates that the DSL modem is loosing sync. This is usually caused by noise on the line. When you get the DSL service you should be given filters to put on all of your phones so that the phones will not interfere with the DSL signal. Those filters need to be attached to anything connected to the phone line that has the DSL on it except for the DSL modem. Other than that the problem could be on the service providers end, something outside your home, or the DSL modem going out. I would suggest that you verify everything is filtered, then contact your service provider so they can run test on your DSL line.

Dsl sync

Hi,

The question I have is,
1. Did you have sync previously and it has suddenly stopped working?
2. Is this new a new DSL activation of service to your address and has not achieved sync yet?

for 1.
The most common issue is usually a recent change within the telephone environment or equipment at your address, does any of the following fit your scenario: You recently moved your DSL equipment to another room, you have bought a new phone, answer machine, Fax machine, Sky television subscription, a monitored security alarm service has been installed at your address or health monitoring equipment has been installed or an unlikely, lightening strike or power outage has occurred around the same time as sync was lost.
Any of the previous changes may have altered the way DSL signal is being filtered or split from your standard home phone signal, all telephone line using devices except for the modem/router will need to have its own DSL filter, if security or health monitoring was installed you will need to contact your internet provider and request a line splitter installation (this can be at some cost to the user, so don't forget to check what a local electrician can do this same job for)
DSL Filters can also be very susceptible to problems after power surge/failure or lightening strike at your address. Or if you have recently moved your DSL equipment, please double check the way you have setup the filter and cables at its new location.
The only test required to verify the issue is not at your address is known as an ISOLATION TEST. The router must be checked in a Phone signal free environment, please remove all phone cables from all jack-points within your premis and plug in only your router, without a filter, you should also test your router across all the jackpoints at your address if the first phone-jack you try fails) If we got lucky, you now have sync and the problem lies with one of your phone line using devices or the filter that it is using, start plugging each device back into the phone circuit one device at a time, with a filter and check to see if the router has lost sync after each device is plugged back in until you are able to identify the problem device, filter or jack-point.

for 2.
Follow the directions exactly as above and if no problem devices, filters or jack-points are found, then ISOLATE your router again and call your ISP provider and request firstly a "port reset" for your DSL port, this should be achieved within a 24Hr period, some are able to do this within 20min of your call, if sync will still not come up it is time for the ISP or service provider to send out a technician to verify the issue is not at the port, cabinet or exchange, this may take some providers up to 5 days to achieve.

Some last thoughts,
Dont rule out the possibilty of the Phone cable used for the router has failed (test the cable on a working home phone to verify it is still working)
or you may have bought an extension cable for your router, the length of Ph cable between your router and the jack-point can be no longer than 5meters before DSL signal fade can start to occur, the router will work at its best with a 15cm-30cm Phone cable, the 1meter cable usually supplied is fine.
Also, do check the jackpoints that you are NOT using at this premis (rare occasions have found me resolving sync issues because the vaccum cleaner has taken out one of your unused jack-points under the bed, in the spare room or the neighbours visiting toddler has tried to plug in a jam sandwhich or even a small plastic toy of some sort into an unused jackpoint)
If you are able, do check that your router can get sync and connect Ok at an address where DSL signal and Sync is currently known to be working.
If you have just moved to this address and your property is over 40-50Yrs old, you may want to check with the phone line provider to see if "line insulators" have ever been installed previously to resolve line noise issues, ageing line insulators will corrupt your DSL signal especially on the high humidity days.
I realise this must seem quite broad and intensive, this testing is intended to rule out any possibility of the issue being internal to your address (as we all know TELCO technicians are all too eager to hit you with unexpected maintenance charges if the issue is found to be internal to your property, as opposed to external)

Hope this gets you closer to identifying the source of your DSL sync issues, if you are like the many DSL subscribers out there, you cant stand to be without your high speed internet for more than two minutes either.

Happy hunting.

I can't get on line

A blinking DSL light means that you have no DSL sync -- you are not receiving a digital signal. You will need to contact your ISP to have them repair your service.

Steps to do first:
1. Powercycle the modem -- unplug the power from the back for 15 secs, plug it back up.
2. Ensure that all phones that share a line with the DSL have filters attached.

DSL light flashing

Not-sync'd = No dsl signal.
First thing first- Unplug your modem for 10 seconds or so. Then see if your lights all come back on.

If you have phone service with your dsl, make sure you have dial tone in the phone jack you're trying to use. If not, then try a different phone jack. If you still can't get your dsl to work, then call the phone company and have them come out and fix your dsl.
