Hi Gary,

This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. The very common caused of this fault is the leaky electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will drop the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit.It needs a little warm-up to make itself stable but the symptom will get worst. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Your unit will back to normal again if the leaky capacitor is isolated.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only. You may also replace the entire board for your convenient, try ebay.com or shopjimmy.com. Just type the model no. of your unit in the search engine and the available parts will be display.

Another option is to look for a shop that will repair the power supply board only, no need to send the entire unit since the affected parts is only the capacitor. It will save you some money.

Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open the back panel, this will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

Hi, I have recently purchased a Toshiba 32KV500B television. I tried to turn it on but the stanby light is flashing. No image or sound is coming out from the TV. I have checked all cables. unplugged them...

The flashing standby light means the TV is updating. Probably wasn't the best idea to unplug it, but if you leave the TV to update for around 1 hour, everything will be back to normal.

2 flashing red lights on the left quadrent of the ring

Hi,

Those lights indicate that your Xbox is overheating, more commonly know as the RROD (Red Ring Of Death) You may need to keep it shut off until it cools, that can take several hours sometimes. Be sure your xbox has good ventilation, meaning:

Do not block any vents on the xbox
Do not put it on the bed, soft or anything soft
Do not put it in a confined area such as bookcase, a rack or stereo cabinet unless WELL ventilated.

If that still doesn't work and you still have a warranty you can send it to Microsoft for them to fix it. If it's not under warranty check your local area for service repair shop.

Can't turn on from Stanby mode

I would assume the power board has a problem. A tech could possibly repair it without replacing the whole board.
