Speedometer, temp and petrol indicator are not working. Signal and gear lights are working.

Where is the supply coming from to the instrument cluster. It's it from a relay or a fuse. Do you have a circuit digram of the instrument cluster? Suspect no supply to the speedometer/odometer but all globes are on???

Thanks for your respond. After removing the instrument gauge many times, now the speedometer/odometer and fuel gauge are not working even on cool days. looks like it's an intermittent problem somewhere.......not sure. Will get an instrument gauge from the wrecker and try it out. Hopefully it does not cost too much.

Solution is helpful but problem still unsolved.

Hi.

That is likely a faulty instrument gauge. The wires and speedo cable to instrument gauge must be checked from the back of the gauge. If the rest of devices are working there is no point in testing from ignition, or from relay board.

Removal and testing are the same as the ones illustrated here for a Colt from same years. Check from page 23.

The intermittent failure would point at a wiring problem. The point is that if the problem occurred only when hot, and if it is only one gauge, it is more likely an electronic problem. Wiring goes with vibration, not with heat.
Problem can also be the sender, it must be tested, see the service manual.

The odometer is driven off the speedometer, if the speedometer works then there is a problem with the drive to the odometer it is an internal part of the speedometer and is not serviceable you will need to replace the speedometer in order to repair your problem.

let me know if there is any thing else i can do for you.

The instrument cluster board might be heating up and shorting out signals from what you destribe. Look for cracks in the board and solder on the board and see what you find. You might want to try a new instrument cluster and see if you have the same problems (possibly get a used one). Let me know what you find.

I have no heat in my 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. When

The cable that pulls the cool/heat switch on the a/c gets weak and it doesnt allow the dial to switch over to heat. You can see that cable and the way its supposed to work on the right side of the gas pedal over it. I usually just use my foot to push that switch over to heat and reach with and pull on it with my right hand to cool.

Speedometer, odometer frozen

there is a steel braided cable located at the back of your speedo panel that connects it to the tranny, this cable rotates from the point it connects to the tranny and transmits it to your panel. this cable may have snapped. pull out the panel, take out the cable and replace.
