SOURCE: accidentally deleted my norton internet

You have two solutions for this problem.
One is to set up your windows to a previous configuration (this may not work if you didn't choose to save a previous configuration)
One is to install again the software you accidentally deleted

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Norton has a habit of being so good that it interferes with some normal activities. Should you wish to uninstall a Norton product and if at all possible, download and run the Norton Removal Tool. I have Norton internet security 2008 instaled on my p.c., I had to unistall, after reistlation, I cannot get incoming or outgoing email screening, upon trying to switch them on I am shown a messge to the...

the problem lies in the uninstall process this will leave a folder in the Program Files directory and in the folder called temp these folders especialy the one called temp leaves installed files remains this is a big isue with all installed programs and when you try and re-install again this is where all files get dumped before installation can continue please find this folder and select all files in this and delete and empty trash can then find the folder where norton was installed and delete this folder as well then run regedit and hunt for all keys that belong to norton security as when you re-install norton it first hunts for any keys you have in your reg and acts accordingly.

Once you've removed all traces of program then reboot pc and try again.

good luck

I need to remove norton from this emachine to install trend micro internet security pro how ever it tells me that the specific path not found nplease advise how to remove. thank you ...

First of all I am assuming that you didn't correctly uninstall Norton in the control panel through add and remove programs right? Delete all traces of the program that you can. Do a computer search on your hard drive for "norton". You will see what is left. You will also have some registry keys that need to be removed. I suggest downloading a free program that is great called Ccleaner. Do a regular scan...then do a registry scan. Always backup your registry. Restart your computer and do it again.

Now your norton should be cleared out and you can install your other software suite. You need to make sure that dll's that norton shares are not deleted. Norton is a pain in the **** to get rid of.

Ccleaner also has an uninstall utility that may work just a little better than the windows version.

Make sure you restart. After every software change just in case.
