Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

Hi, My motherboard is MSI 945GCM5-F V2 AND I have bought MSI R5450MD512H vga card in order to upgrade my graphic performance but it wouldn't start and can't be seen under windows. I have set the primary VGA to PCI-E. The card works fine in another computer and another PCI_E VGA card works ok with the motherboard. I have upgaraded BIOS to the latest version aveilable from MSI site (Windows update didn't work (tried wit Windows XP SP2 32bit and Windows 7 64bit)???, but have done it with DOS diskette. I have read somewhere that you have sent someone unofficial version of bios for the same graphic card and that problem was solved that way. Please advise. With best regards, Djordje Dimitrijevic

SOURCE: Biostar P4M900-M7 SE BIOS ROM Checksum Error

The bios upgrade procedure stopped at half , leaving the bios corrupted. The computer now cannot do a regular boot procedure, this is the reason why it cannot recognise some device. If you are still able to boot from floppy, you can restart bios upgrade procedure from floppy. Just download floppy version upgrade and re do setup. Even if you do not find latest bios version, just download a floppy upgrade that is working, so that you can restart your machine regularly , and then do the update to latest version.
If you are not able to complete the bios setup, the only way to fix your motherboard will be flashing the CMOS chipset with a chip programmer device that will reinstall bios straight into cmos chipset.
You can have this done at the service point, in this case consider also replacing your motherboard.

SOURCE: Problem With Nvidia 8400 SE Graphics card

Try reflow technique.
It could work.
Its might be a GPU problem.
It can be overcome by doing reflow technique.
You need to do following.
1. Uncover ur PC casing
2. Locate the nVIDIA PCI-E Card.
3. On the card, locate the power supply pin of GPU fan.
4. Remove the pin.
5. Switch on ur PC.
6. Still u may get scrambled display/wavy screen, but wait for 5 minutes.
7. Press reset button on ur PC.
8. Ur PC might work.
9. Switch it off.
10. Connect the power supply pin back as it is.
11. Power on ur PC.
thats all.

Removal of fan power, makes the GPU to get high heat, it a reflow technique.
Remember, not to touch the GPU portion (heat sink), as it may be in higher temperature.
Try this, it works most.

Is the MSI 945GCM5-F 7.1 motherboard on-board graphic card compatible with LG Flatron wide screen? Up until now we had a GF card, but now it's gone, and using only the MSI we don't seem to be...

You don't say how big the screen is, what connectors it has [VGA (Analogue), DVI (Digital) or HD (High Definition)] or which Operating System you're using.

Right click on open space on your desktop.

Properties > Settings (XP)

Personalize > Settings (Vista, Win 7)

Left click & hold on the slider and slide to adjust resolution.

You are given the option to test and accept each setting change you make.

When satisfied, Apply > Yes > Ok. Then restart the computer.

If your screen is large and has Digital and/or HD capability and the above advice does not help you find a resolution setting thast completely satisfies you, you may need to consider a dedicated PCI-Express Graphics Card to upgrade your graphics performance and give you a wider range of resolution options.

Hope this helps.
