Generally the cause of this kind of error varies from case to the next.

What kind of file are you trying to play? That's the first thing. WMP won't play everything. And if it is say, an .rm or .qt file, forget it.

The first thing I would do is reboot the system.

[1] There is a thing called chip creep where the contacts of a device get too hot and the cause the device to 'creep' out of it's slot.

[2] The driver files may be corrupted and need to be re-installed.

[3] Check Device Manager and see if the sound device is functioning properly at all. There could be a resource [IRQ] conflict-something that is rare nowadays but still does happen-in which case you need to change the IO address.

[4] You may have incompatible audio applications running or need a codec for the file you are trying to play; or the file may NOT in fact be a genuine audio file [DELETE IT IF IT ISN'T!].

Your sound card might be in use by another application.

0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with
your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller. You may
encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

Your sound device is in use by another program. Quit other programs that may
be using your sound device, and then try to play the file again.
Your sound device is not functioning properly. To troubleshoot the problem,
see the Sound Troubleshooter in Windows Help or refer to your sound device's
documentation.
You do not have a sound device installed on your computer. Install a sound
device, and then try to play the file again.

My sound was not working with the hcl motherboard it is not functionig so i want the hcl motherboar sound driver. when i run wmp the the error Error ID = 0xC00D11BA, Condition ID = 0x00000000 is comming...

if you still have your motherboard cd, run it it will eradicate the problem.

or alternatively, find a Foxcom motherboard cd, it is suitable with most motherboards and it might install all the drivers necessary including the one for sound.

thank you
