Any noise must be located with a good test and observation. Remove the plug and manually turn the movement of the drum and listen. If you hear or feel a tiny friction or vibration then it can be due to the spindle assembly. The bearing assembly must be taken out and reset. It can also be checked with some oiling on the shaft, use a de-greasing spray to clean and confirm.

I have alot of grinding out of the rearend

Sounds like bearing or bearing are gone out. Jack up vehicle, check fluid level. Grab one wheel and spin it, listening for noise from wheel bearing area and the rear end. If no noise, spin other wheel listening for noise from that wheels bearing.

If it's a heavy grinding you are hearing, it's rear end.

Extremely loud noise when spinning. Sounds like dry bearing

If you have loud noises on spin it is quite possibly bearings.
You may also find that the inner drum becomes loose and may contact and wear the outer drum..
Replacing the bearings and possibly the shaft going through them is quite a big job. Best left to an experienced tech..
Get quotes before getting the job done. Check new prices also...
Good luck....Nomess

Washing machine is really loud

It sounds as if the inner water seal has failed and allowed water to get into the bearings.. Rust on the bearings means they are no longer smooth..Hence the noise! Replacing the bearings (and possibly the shaft) is a big job. This is not an unusual problem with front lad washers. Too much detergent will shorten the life of the seal/bearings...Get quotes...Nomess

You are right!

Bearings have to be replaced. Replace with the same type and design. All the bearings connected to the washer center shaft has to be replaced at the same time with new set.

Replace the water seals also connected to this. Check the shaft where the bearing sits, for any abrasions or metal damage.

Check the bearing housing also. While carrying out these repairs check the drive belt also. If needed replace it.

If you are happy with the machine outer body and other aspects repair it and re-use it.

I have a GE Select Top loading wash machine that is making alot of noise during the spin cycle. 99/2000 model

If it sounds like a jet plane taking off, a grinding noise, it is the bearing. This is pretty difficult to replace. If you do attempt it, you MUST replace the inner tub seal. This is leaking onto the bearing, causing it to go bad.

Washer started grinding during spin, now won't spin at all.

sounds like the motor spun a bearing. Usually this requires a motor replacement. when the bearing breaks down enough, the lube no longer keeps the bearing cool. Then the friction just mounts up and makes alot of noise. after the heat from forcing a broken bearing the motor then overheats and then fails. after letting it cool it might reset itself but only to pop again because the bearing just gets worse until it locks up and becomes heat welded.
so there. I'd say motor replacement since the bearings and motor are all one unit.
Sorry, i hope this helps with the diagnosis

Washing machine drum is very wobbly

* General tips
* Balance the load
* Level the machine
* Inspect the water pump for a blockage
* Inspect the coupling
* Inspect the transmission
* Adjust the drive belt tension
* Check the motor bearings
* Check the drum brakes

The above are possibly the general remedies for this problem.But possible if the problem still persists after this, possibly the drum bearings might have been damaged during the previous heavy vibrations.Please do post comments.Will be glad to help you out.Good luck.

Load noise in final spin cycle

turn the tub on the inside if it feels ruff as it turns and makes a noise then most likely you have a bad rear bearing, if it is smooth in turning and no noise then turn to drain or spin possibly something stuck in drain pump. the drain pump will start up first if you hear the noise then the drain pump is accessed from the front lower cover, if its the rear bearing probably not worth fixing about 400.00 in parts and alot of work.
