Question about NetGear WNA1100 WirelessN 150 USB Adapter (WNA1100100ENS)

1 Answer

I have a problem with my NETGEAR WNA1100 Wireless-N 150 USB Adapter. I use it with my desktop PC and a Belkin 802.11g router placed in another room. As soon as I installed it, everything seemed to work fine: then suddenly it did not reconnect any more after a PC reboot and still I am unable to solve the issue. What happens is: signal strength appears to be "excellent" (54 Mbps) but the browser page (doesn't matter if Mozilla or IE) remains blank despite the status bar says "connected". The progress bar struggles to advance but no internet connection ever works. I tried to disinstall and reinstall the USB adapter driver a couple of times but nothing changes. Also, renewing the IP address through "repair" is ineffective. I also removed the WEP security but again, no changes. However, I able to connect to the router setup page through 192.168.2.1 so something works. My OS is Windows XP. Any suggestion??? I cannot get out of here! Thanks.

Your Issue can be Solved by assigning DNS address on your Computer.

>First of all change the Security on the Belkin Router to WEP Mode.

--- Remove Preferred Networks From your Computer.

- Right Click on wireless Network Connection > Properties > Select Wireless Networks tab > Remove your network From Preferred Networks Box.

--- Associate with your wireless Network.

- Right Click on wireless Network Connection > View Available Wireless Networks > Select your network > Click connect

---> Check if you are able to go online.

--- If Not Try Assigning DNS Addresses For your Wireless Network

- Right Click on Wireless Network Connection > Properties > Under this connection uses the Following Items. > Double Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

- Select Use the Following DNS Server Addresses:

- Preferred DNS Server: 4.2.2.1

- Alternate DNS Server: 4.2.2.2

- Click OK & OK again

- Now Check if you are able to go online if still No go Check if you can go online on any other wireless Com or Device using the Belkin Router If Yes it Might Be an Issue with your Adapter or there Might Be an Antivirus Installed on your com Try Disabling it.

- If this doesn't work Please do get Back to us we will be happy to Help you out... :)

Thank you. I tried all you suggested but disabling the antivirus, and still the adapter does not connect to internet. By the way: in order to set the DNS server address I had to right-clic on the "network bridge" icon from "Network Connections" window, it was not accessible from the "Wireless Network" icon.

I can disinstall the antivirus though I would surprised that is the cause: it is an old one and is just antivirus, not firewall (I use windows firewall for the network connection).

Windows unable to find certificate to log on using netgear wna1100

Windows doesn't need a certificate to logon to the router.

It may need one to logon to a web page.

Check by accessing another web page.

Install wna 1100

Try the following:
- Uninstall the linksys adapter driver on your PC
- Uninstall the netgear driver, and go to kb.netgear.com and get the latest driver.
- Try to insert the adapter into a different USB port. (try them all)
- Update your XP if you are still using SP1.

You must use the driver on the CD that came with the wna1100.
Do not use the latest version on the website.

If you dont have any CD then here is a link for old version software:

Netgear wireless router: WNA3400 Netgear wireless USB adapter: WNA1100 Can get it to connect at 150 mbs but after a few minutes it always goes back to 65 mbs. Thanks.

It seems that your network is getting wireless interference and that is the reason why the adapter is dropping the connection to a lower speed. Please go ahead and change the wireless channel on the wireless router to resolve the issue.

Please revert for any further clarification.

Netgear wirless - installed on toshiba satellite a45 - S151 will not connect to internet router = comcast - linksys also causes conflict with connection of other wireless computer

Presumably, you have configured your wireless router:
* SSID (your "network name")
* encryption-level ('WPA' or higher security)
* password for your network

With that information, any wireless device (iPod Touch, iPhone, NetGear wireless adapter) should be able to connect to your wireless router.

> conflict with connection

Exactly what error-message are you getting?
