Question about ASUS P5GPL-X SE Motherboard
The link above gives specs for your card. It requires 400 watts min power. Your board also will only support 2gb Ram. Do you meet the power requirements? How did you install driver?

Start by checking out the ATI website and looking for known problems. ATI is very good about posting known problems with specific mixes of hardware and software, especially concerning motherboard issues...BTW- EXCELLENT VGA card you have there!!!!!!
If you cannot find anything on the ATI website that fixes your problem, you need to go through what can be very tedious .... using the Windows Task Manager to shut down one task at a time until you find the program that is hanging up on shutdown. Kill one running task at a time and then try a shutdown until you isolate the program that is causing your system to hang.
Once you isolate the program that is hanging up your shutdown, you may want to consider deleting it and then reinstalling after a re-boot. This should clean up your windows registry enough to allow a proper shutdown. If not, repost your problem on FixYa with details about what programs are running when you try to shut down and we will try again to help you fix it.
