Question about LG Washing Machines

1 Answer

Hi i have a LG 8/4kg (WD- 1485RD) Washer dryer combo unit. its done this before and it cost heaps to fix it last time. the problem is it goes through a washing cycle then it just leaves the clothes wet. last two times its does this it shot a massive ball of lint out and clogged my drain and flooded my place... not cool at all i think its just lint but its so hard to get into it to fix it i dont know where to start, ive got the top off it at the moment and i cleaned what i could access there is lint everywhere but it just makes this grinding sound when it trys to pump water out, i put it on drain, made the same noise, then i put it on a quick wash for 5 minutes to put some water in the barrel just so it would have something to pump out but it still wont pump water out

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Blocked filters
Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. It is there to stop detritus from fouling/blocking the drain pump. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my guidance notes for checking both the drain filter and the drain motor ;-0)
-------------------------------------

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

My Lg WD-3274RHD after a load is complete It fills with water again? If left ovder night water will run out the door.

I have same problem with my washer/dryer combo. It took me quite some time to figure out what is going on.Did all electrical checks ,everything was fine and worst thing it was intermittent thing ,it would do it 8 out of 10 times. Found cold water inlet valve assembly to be faulty (mechanical problem with middle valve) . Second time in 6 years ,other than that I'm very happy with that combo.Problem now is to get new valve, because it is not available anymore from LG, so I'm digging through internet to see if anybody has it somewhere. Good luck

Lg front loader washer error code -PE

Hi,
PE error code means there is an pressure sensor error in your machine .
You need to check pressure it will be giving incorrect indication .
Pressure switch is faulty you need to change it .
Procedure for changing it is :

  • Power off the machine remove backcover and top cover.
  • The pressure switch is a round item about 3 inchesacross with several wires and a thin rubber pipe attached.
  • It generallysits just under the top cover.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for using Fixya.

LG WD-1438RD washer dryer combo won't turn on

Okay well i had the same problem with my LG WD-1438RD so i took it a part it was a loose wire in the display module easy fixed. I guess from banging the door closed and hitting the buttons to hard made it come loose. To fix it all you need is a phillips head take the two screws out of the back up the top then slide the lid forward. then remove the powder tray thing unscrew the 2 screws behind it push the clips out of the way just be careful not to break em. re connect the wires! job done =) i put glue and electrical tape on the wires and plug so it shouldnt happen again..... I hope i helped you good luck

Prolem drying clothes

I just contacted Samsung Tech Support for my wash/dryer combo WD-J1255C.
The reply.."it is not a full dryer ...and it is not sold as a full drier.. and don't expect it to be completely dry". I queried why it is advertised as a dryer and got the same reply.
Its a great washer but why did I pay extra for the dryer combo?

Lp conversion for LG dryer

After removing the three screws which pass through the L bracket into the back of the dryer:
Stand in front of the dryer and (using the palms of your hands) give the top a sharp push back on the dryer top at the left and right side of the top. The top should slide back 1 to 2 inches. Now lift the top off.

If you post again with further questions, make sure to post under the model number you have. (you posted using a combo washer / dryer, and stated you are converting to LP, which combo units are not gas.)

Here is the Service Manual

Bonus, it actually completes a wash cycle and does not stick at 6 minutes, drying forever.

Freakin service tech stated it was the Power Control Board, IDIOT!

While I was in there, I cleaned out the heater blower assembly and sensors. They were full of caked on lint and the sensors had debris all over them.

Also cleaned out all the lint and debris around the rubber seal, this will eliminate those annoying mildew oders.

Hope this helps someone, Happy New Year!

Washer/dryer has stop

There is no reset button but it could be that a wire has come loose from all that thumping.  Check the connectors to the control board and to the display board to make sure that they're connected properly.
