Question about Sunfire 300 Two Amplifier

1 Answer

I have a Sunfire 300 Two, when powered on and connected t the pre amp the output became very low, also the sound is not normal the sound is clipped and towards to high treble. I removed both the RCA cables to the pre amp and slowly touched the RCA pin to induce hum and this hum is high pitched towards high frequency not the normal 50Hz hum, occurs in both channel so I think its some thing to do with the Tracking power supply, removed the cover found no burned parts. any advise

The internal preamp driver is defective. You will need to test the preamp IC and its reaction circuits and then the voltage it receives from the power supply. If the problem is in the power supply you will need to check the rectifiers and the stabilizer circuits.

When I plug-in my vp1220f floor monitors in to the monitor mix on the pmp 2000 i get no sound or little sounds

If you are referring to the "monitor" output , this is a Pre-amp output which connects to a power amp or speakers that have built-in power amps. The Monitor output is a high impedance output. This output will not drive speakers directly.

You can prove the sub pre-output works by running an RCA cable from it to the input of a tape deck, TV or any other device that accepts Line In and will either display it or play it. Test it on VERY LOW volume at the receiving device.

The "output" is two RCA

hi,
normally in any amplifiers or pre amplifiers the RCA sockets used only for pre input and output. for speaker out always there will be binding post or speaker sockets, u can connect the pre amps RCA output to ur power amps input. there will be seperate connector for speaker connection in ur power amplifier . You didn't specified the make and model number of ur amplifier and pre. need any further help feel free to contact.

OVERLOAD

First of all the KEF is a powered sub which means that it wants a line level signal NOT a speaker level. Send the signal from a tape output or pre-amp output to the sub input. The overload is because the impedence load for the speaker output is too low and looks like a short to the amp. Continued attempts to connect the system as described will result in damage to the output section of the amp.

Please let me know if you need more info.

My turntable connect to Carver Preamp, I bought a

If you can hear music with the volume up, but like it was turned down low (from the power amp), then yes there is something up with it. If it's the same on both left & right channels, then it's something common to both. For instance the power supply, or an IC that has both channels going in it.
If however the power amp does produce sound normally with another device, then either the turntable has a fault, or the pre-amp has, perhaps on the pre-amp inside it for the cartridge.

How to connect a power amplifier to an AV receiver

To achieve this, your AV receiver needs to have a pair of RCA/phono sockets labelled PRE-OUT. This output is the same as is normally fed to the receiver's own integral power amp, so the audio signl at this output is affected by input selection, volume and tone controls. Some receivers even have metal U-shaped links on the rear panel which connect between their PRE-OUT and MAIN-IN or POWER-IN sockets, so removing these links both makes the PRE-OUT available to connect to your separate amp, and disconnects the reveiver's internal amp, so you don't end up feeding signal to both power amps. I have seen Technics and NAD receivers and amps with this feature.
Don't connect your power amp to the REC-OUT or TAPE-OUT sockets of the receiver, as this output is not affected by the receiver's volume and tone controls, so you won't be able to adjust the sound using the receiver's controls.

Sunfire Amplifier hum

If it works fine with other inputs then it simply cannot be your sunfire. Next time it happens try reversing the power plug on one of the pieces of equipment hooked up to it and see what happens.

Behringer amp

Hello pare ko.
EP2500 is a pro amp, manufacturer says that. Notorious to me.
Got 5 of these for repair. Clip is of course cause by too much
signal from source. If the amp is still clipped or on protect even w/out
signal in, time to open and do repairs inside. usually a MOSFET
inside P50N06 (50V-60A) is kaput. or MJE15033G and MJE15032G.
Now if blowing main Fuse, main txistor 2SA1943/2SC5200 maybe gone.
Read carefully the setting of your dip switches setting at the back.
This amp can drive 750 watts/ch@4 ohms.

Good Luck From Siliconchip
