Volume fix problem

Yamaha receiver with zone 2 not playing sound any longer. Display shows "zone 2 volume fix" any time i try to adjust the volume. Any suggestions? I'm not very tech savvy, so a detailed description would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

It Worked for me too! In the "D Multi Zone" if you hit the ">" it switches from AMP INT to AMP EXT. I guess this means you can have ZONE 2 using a different amp.

Also - on my remote the "TV VOL" did not work, but the arrow buttons did , the "<" and ">" and "^" and also the one pointing down, but I can;t find it on my keyboard.

When I try to turn up zone 2 the display reads fix. Is there a short or an ohms problem?

Look on page 99 of the manual. It's a parameter you have an option to change to Variable. Fix lets Zone 2 or 3 have a Fixed volume level independent of the volume control on the Yamaha. Variable makes them dependent on the control.

Zone 2

If you are using an external amp, "fixed" is what you will see on the Yamaha's display when you want to change the volume. If you are using the power of the Yamaha's Zone 2 outputs, you need to go into the "Menu" then "Manual Settings" then "Options or Zone 2" and set it for "Int" That will solve your problem.

On zone 2 of my yamaha rx v663 receiver it says fixed when I try to adjust the vlume and won't let me cut it up or down.

Check the setup menu of the receiver on zone 2 settings most likely the error is a fixed volume setting for this zone. If not found, reset factory settings and try to setup everything again. If the problems persists, contact your vendor if still under warranty.

Denon AVR-3805 zone 2 no longer working

time to reset the microprocessor. See page 87 in manual.
1) switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation (small power button)
2) hold the PURE DIRECT button and DIRECT button at same time and turn the main unit's power operation on.
3) wait for entire display to flash in 1 second intervals

now the speakers need to be set up again but zone 2 will be working. i suspect a power surge causes the microprocesser to be corrupted. i put a power surge protector and have not had problems (lately).

Yamaha RX-V663 Multi-zone question.

i just got the same receiver like few days ago im still leaning it too,it is a very nice receiver though. here is some settings to help you.
check this to make sure zone 2 is showing in the menu,
on remote
menu, basic setup, speaker set, extra should show zone 2 it might show zone b...presence...or none needs set on zone 2 hit the left a-e/cat button it is weird the right doesnt circle all around? i had to call crutchfield tech for that one(GREAT COMPANY!)so that is for the setting to make sure zone 2 is set up now some to adjust the volume.
menu, manual, options, zone 2 set. here you can set 2 features
max volume( the loudest it will play) inti vol(the volume that it will play at when it is turned on) the yamaha has alot of quirks to it but has a very nice sound. for second zone features and a easier receiver to set up i have onkyo and they are very easy to set up zone 2 olume and everything on the front panel. hope you dont have to try to program a universal remote to work it seems yamaha uses discrete codes that are impossible to find i tried one universal and can only get very basic features to work.
hope this helps you out,
jeff
