Question about Daewoo Washing Machines

Open Question

Our new Daewoo DWC-LD1213 washer/dryer is not drying clothes properly, so we still end up hanging them out to dry, which is what we wanted to avoid! NB it did work ok for the first week or so. Unfortunately, I can't find the manual. I've searched online for a downloadable manual, but so far, no luck. Thanks. Nigel

SOURCE: My WVF 2402 washer/dryer washes clothes ok but doesn't dry them.

Sorry I'm way late with this but I've only just noticed it. Unplug the machine from the mains! Remove the lid (with a torx screwdriver) and you'll notice a small circular device with 2 leads attached on the top of the machine, in the centre there's a small button, press it and it should click......you've fixed it This is a thermal cutout safety device designed to switch the drying heater off if it becomes too hot. The probable cause for this is that you've over filled the machine and the air didn't circulate freely. as a rule of thumb, dry 1/2 as many clothes as you wash.

SOURCE: My LG WM3431H All-In-One Washer and Dryer won't dry

Thanks to CoolTech for pointing me in the right direction, I just finished a full clean out and diagnostics test and my dryer works once again.

This repair isn't rocket science nor is it a good idea for the mechanically timid. I managed to get the critical parts out for cleaning and back in properly with just a phillips head screwdriver and a pair of pliers for the spring type hose clamps so it's not a matter of custom tools.

You have dig pretty deep and remove an awful lot of cabinet parts, fans, heater assemblies and something like 30 or 40 various screws to get to the condensor duct and bellows to clean them. Sure enough my condensor duct was jam packed with lint. Once removed I was able to clean it with a creatively bent coat hanger, but a semi flexible bottle brush/pipe cleaner about 18 inches long and an inch or so brush diameter would be a better tool.

If you want to tackle this job, and again it sounds daunting but isn't to someone with reasonable mechanical skills you should do yourself a favor and buy a copy of the factory service manual. I got mine on line from these guys: http://www.manualuniverse.com/ but there are probably other sources including LG if you search by the model number.

In addition to some less than obvious disassembly instructions the manual tells you how to trigger the self test mode and how to interpret the results, gives you good information on cold state resistance tests you can do on relays, heater elements, sensors, etc. and provides a good troubleshooting guide for a variety of problems.

All in all the job took me about an hour and a half and was pretty straightforward except for the last mounting screw for the condensor duct which is hard to get to and requires some effort to remove and replace but again I did the whole job with a standard medium sized screwdriver so it's not impossible.

Good luck and if you're having this problem and like me you don't have any local repair folks who'll touch it (not many of these all in ones in Wyoming) then I'd get your hands on the manual and dig into it. It's not fun, but not too hard either.

SOURCE: Miele WT945 Washer/Dryer

You can get fluff out by opening the small lower left front panel with the yellow plastic lever/opening tool (on the left hand side of the washing powder draw). Make sure you place an empty container under the tap on the opening panel door to collect the condenser water. Water will flow as soon as you turn the big plastic dial (which holds the fluff). Once water stops flowing, completely unwind, take out the fluff dial, clean and retighten dial back. Close lid and you are set to go!

I have a washer dryer combo DWC LD1013 it stoped drying. My clothes are more wet when put in to dry. The clothes would be extremely hot but all wet. It works 1 cycle and then stops. Please help ????

In order to dry cloths, you need two things, heat source and air flow. Sounds like you have heat but no air flow. If you can, pull unit out and check vent for washer. Look around unit and make sure there is nothing blocking any vents. If you don't see any thing, try drying with vent not installed. I run into a lot of homes with clogged vents inside walls. By drying with no vent installed, it might tell you if you have dryer problem or a home issue. Good Luck

How do i do drying only

From the document I see, it is only a matter of pressing the "Dry" button. This is from the manual, available at http://www.lg.com/us/appliances/washer-dryer-combos/LG-WM3431HW.jsp and selecting the "Support" tab. On the right, there will be a "Washer/Dryer Combos Manual" link, which will download to your computer. Listed under "Dry" in Section 9 is the following.
• Drying options are easily selected with the Dry button. • For most even drying , make sure all articles in the clothes load are similar in material and thickness. • Do not overload dryer by stuffing too many articles into drum. Items must be able to tumble freely • If you open door and remove load before dryer has finished its cycle, remember to press the Start/Pause button. • By pressing the Dry button, you can select "Normal" - "More" - "Time" - "Off" - "Low Temp" - "Less" • Your dryer can handle a load of up to 9 lbs. (4 kg) dry weight of articles. • When drying cycle is completed, [Cd] (Cool Down) is displayed on the Multi display. • Cool Down is set automatically when the drying cycle is complete. • If clothes are not removed promptly when the drying cycle ends, wrinkles can form. • The Cool Down feature periodically tumbles, rearranges and fluffs the load to avoid wrinkles for up to 4 hours. • The message [Cd] will continue to display until the clothes are removed or the Start/Pause button is pressed
Hope this solves your problem. I highly recommend downloading the users manual, it is a wealth of information and will prove useful in many circumstances.
Please rate and comment Thank You Joe

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I would suspect that the dryer's heater element is malfunctioning. This would require an engineer visit I fear ;-0(
Sorry,

Whirlpool AWZ410 Washer/Dryer Washes But Will Not Dry!

I have the same problem. The half load / drying button is pushed in; the drying time set; I've reduced the load to almost nothing, but it won't dry. I've tried numerous cycles. The clothes spin, but are still damp at the end.

How would I go about checking my lid switch or fixing my clutch, if that's the problem?

Lint on Clothes

When you wash clothes, they lose fibers from the agitator and unfortunately when you hang dry them the fibers from eachother or other articles of clothing stick to it making them look like they have lint on them. Drying them in the dryer removes this lint. I suggest drying them in the dryer and to prevent wrinkles hang them as soon as possible after dryer stops other than that I know of no solution in the wash for this problem. Good Luck.

Dryer Problem

EC4 The temperature of air vent
Within 30 minutes of dry cycle there is 5 minutes in which the temperature is not increasing.

You need to call for repairs. Probably the heating element is faulty.

You can create a custom program without a dry cycle and hang dry your clothing.

Dryer capacity

Yes, a full size dryer as yours is easily capable of drying a full sized load from the washer you mentioned. The wash tubs in the new model washers and dryers still maintain a standard size. For example, the front loader dryer that I purchased to match my front loader washer is completely identical to earlier standard models without all the fancy packaging. I could have saved some money and purchased only the washer, but...the wife needed a matching pair.

Now, you will still have to properly sort items to ensure they dry efficiently. A copy of your dryer owner's manual will describe this to you. I'm not here to give you lessons in how to dry your clothes, but if you do not own a copy of your manual and would like to refer to it, you can obtain a copy at geappliances.com. Just look under the "Service and Support" section for "Use and Care Manuals". Just type in your model number and your owner's manual is availble in a downloadable .pdf format.

The point I'm attempting to make here is that although you can place a full load from your washer in the dryer, if you do not properly separate certain items, they will not dry properly. I did not want you to think this was a cause of the appliance.

In addition, make sure the dryer vent ducting is properly cleaned and not clogged anywhere. This can also contribute to longer dry times.

I know you were only asking a simple question. I just wanted to be thorough in case additional question may arise. I hope this information is helpful to you.

Same problem here and mines brand new. Seems the dryer consists of only a heating element. There's no circulation of dry air. You may as well hang your clothes inside a steam room.
