Toshiba m100 my hand trying to have a power LED and battery LED fan works but I can not display the image signal.

Hi,

If you see power lights but nothing appears on the screen, it could be a "POST" (Power-on Self Test) problem or simply LCD problem.

Here are some steps that you can try.

1. Remove the battery and the ac adapter then press the power button for at least 20 seconds to drain electric charges left from the system. (You may need to repeat this step to get it work.)

2. If above step doesn't work, try to plug in an external monitor and see if you get display from the external monitor. You may need to press the Fn + F10 or F6, depends on the key designed on the keyboard to toggle between displays.

3. If you get display from the external monitor, I'm sure your having problem with the LCD components. In this case, check and replace faulty LCD backlight, LCD cable or LCD inverter. The LCD inverter is often a culprit.

4. Try to reinsert the memory module/s (RAM) of the unit, try using one RAM at a time to see if it works. A faulty RAM will cause the issue not to POST.

5. If reinserting the RAM doesn't help, most likely your motherboard needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.

My Inspiron 1200 turns on but I have a black screen - no video. It began fading - now nothing. Is there anything I can replace?

Hi:
One thing to try is to connect your Inspiron up to an external monitor. You can plug in any kind of monitor, but you might have to toggle to the external mode:
Hold down your function key, then hit the LCD/CRT key. If you have a good display on an external monitor, then you are going to need either a LCD inverter or new LCD. They are not too hard to swap out, the inverter costs about $15,it is mounted in the lid, below the LCD, and the replacement LCD about $80.

Laptop turns on but the screen displays nothing

Try using an external monitor. If it works with this, the display board may be out. If you can see the faint image shining a flashlight diagonally at the screen, the backlight is burned out. It should be practical to replace the display if it's still a good computer otherwise.

IBM T43 laptop display

This is an example of an inverter going out slowly. Usually, they tend to just go out and you diagnosed correctly when you seen the faintness on the screen and tested with another monitor.

The Dell inverter will not fit, more than likely. They are all different sizes, lengths, etc.

I would recommend just replacing the screen of the Toshiba. You can get one for less that $50.00 on eBay and it will save you alot of hassle trying to swap out the inverter (my opinion).

Ibook powers up but no video

Before disassembling the unit, the recommended way to diagnose a display failure is to use the appropriate adapter to connect the iBook to an external display or TV. If the external display shows an image, the internal display assembly is at fault; otherwise, it could be the graphics processor or logic board. This step may be more difficult now that you have your unit apart.
Two cable sets drive the display. One provides image signal, the other provides power to the backlight. It is common for them to fray where they run through the hinges. Either or both could be the cause of your problem. Another possibility is that your backlight has burned out, as it is nothing but a small fluorescent tube and they fail with age.

I have a Dell laptop D505. The laptop powers up but the screen display is very dim. I can't see the image on the monitor. I've tried to manually increase the color/brightness button and nothing changes. ...

Sounds like your inverter or your backlight is failing. The inverter is an easy repair, the backlight can be replaced but it involves taking the LCD panel apart, The backlight comes installed on new screens. I can include a service manual below and possibly a generic guide to backlight replacement....

My toshiba laptop is not giving the display at all?

Does the computer boot up?
Connect an external monitor to the laptop and power it up, if you see a clear image on an external monitor, this means your video card is OK.

If you see a dim image or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
