Question about Televison & Video

Open Question

I have a pioneer dvr-lx60d dvd recorder, which was working fine until i noticed it had powered up on its own, after switching on my plasma to see what was happening i noticed on the plasma an error message saying THE HARD DISC DRIVE IS INCORRECT. USE THE DISC SET UP MENU TO REINITIALIZE. I tried to do this but the machine is not responding to the remote control. Please could you help?

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Pioneer DVR-LX60D, last night it would not power down, I had to press and hold the power button on the front of the machine to turn it off. When powering back on today it says "An error occurred"... and something about having to take it to a service centre and about how the hard disk will maybe be wiped by the repair technicians.

If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this problem I'd be grateful.

On a PC this usually happens when the RDB (Rigid Disk Block) or Boot Block gets corrupted.

    Cheers,

OK I solved my problem of my Pioneer DVR-LX60D suddenly stopping working as regards the HDD by opening the machine and pulling the SATA cable out between the Seagate HDD and the motherboard, at both ends, and plugging it back in again. It wasn't quite square on when I had a look (the black tape inside holding the SATA cable was pulling on the cable) at the HDD end, so that's what made me think of reseating the cable. Anyway, works fine now, all back to normal.

    Cheers,

    Alistair G.

Resetting the Recorder to Factory Settings
1. Make sure that the recorder is on
2. Press and hold the STOP button and STANDBY/ON button.
The recorder turns off with all settings reset.

Try this and let me know if it works.

SOURCE: Faulty hard drive

Your hard drive needs to be replaced. They don't tell you in the operators manual, but these drives are extremely vulnerable to shock (even a 1/4" drop can kill them) and temperature change.

These machines are not sophisticated enough to mark bad sectors and work around them. Without a new hard rive, your machine will not work.

It is very unlikely, but there is a tiny chance you could reset the hard drive with a service remote. But considering how expensive and difficult it is to get a service remote, it is not worth the effort. You would also need a service manual, whic BTW is not particularly good, so you would need a lot of time and the chances of success are very small.

Considering repair costs, you may be better off financially to get a new DVR.

Power off after recording

Hi All,

This is a power supply problem.... the MR2920 stanby IC miss behaved, it power off and fail to power back on.

Solution, get pioneer power supply replacement or take the dvd recorder to your local electronic service repair to take a look at the power supply circuit.
