Time for a new switch. these switches are difficult to explain how they work, however usually there is a small plastic piece in the switch that breaks and gets stuck in one position or the other. also the switch itself might be plugged up with dirt. good luck.

Please mention the product/device so that we have an idea. It can be that the switch is stuck up and is faulty or that there is obstruction to the switch. Use some degreasing/cleaning spray on to the switch as you gently move if back and forth. this might clear the obstruction.

I have a 2007 pontiac wave with key stuck in ignition, wont shift out of park and most electronics wont work (radio, power windows, etc) i changed the break switch . what else could it be?

The ignition switch is very close to the brake switch, and you may have disturbed its mounting position (not secured properly and has moved out of proper position).

My suzuki burgman 650 will not go into gear

Most likely, the switch for the centerstand is stuck in the depressed position, a relatively common situation. The centerstand switch, which is exposed to road debris underneath the bike, often accumulates grime and periodically needs to be cleaned. The centerstand switch's purpose is to prevent damage to the CVT when the bike is on the centerstand, and thereby has no rotational resistance. When the centerstand switch is "stuck", the ECU thinks the bike is still on the centerstand and prevents the CVT from shifting up to a higher gear.

Switch needs replaced in dash. you will have to take it out of the car and put a new fan switch, should work in all positions, and since its stuck that would be what I would replace first, not sure on procedure. http://hyundaisonata.com

The knob on 2002 alero will not change position

Trace it down to the box from the switch (lubricate WD-40) and try to turn it from there. Not sure what else it could be unless the cable between the two is broken or disconnected.
