Remove hose an look down into tube that connects hose. There's a small elbow on the bottom that clogs easily. (Mine has multiple times - dog hair)

Remove all filters and try the suction on your hand, NOT THE FLOOR!
Filters are vital to keeping the motor working.
Most vacuum sucking probs are a result of a clogged filter or filters. Sometimes, hoses also. Or a full bag.
Remove all filters, clean them thoroughly, check hose for obstruction.
Use another vacuum to remove dust/dirt (or an air compressor) from the dirty filters.
That's first step.

Hey Julie,

Hopefully we will get this solved together.

To me, this problem sounds like either the filters are choked up and cannot breathe, OR.... the bagless cannister is not quite sitting in the machine properly.
Honestly, I am more leaning towards the cannister not quite in properly, that is assuming that everything is out of the suction hose.

Start with the process of elimination. Remove and clean the filters with a paint brush or other brush. Get as much dirt and debris off of them as you can and replace them into the machine.
Turn on the machine, and using only the hose attachment, feel if the suction is there. If not, try a re-alignment of the cannister and check the hose. a small coin or marble running through the hose will tell you if there is still a blockage in there.
Where the attachment hose connects to the bottom of the machine could also be blocked up as well. This will also give the same effect of the dirt blowing out the bottom of the machine.

Lastly, it is also quite possible that the belt has stretched or worn out. This too will contribute to it not picking up.
Let me know if this helps, and we will go from there.
Good luck,
Mark

Dirt/hair not passing through properly

The key to these machines is the velocity of the air flow. If any filter or hose is plugged in the system due to age or sucking something up that was wet, it will slow the air down and it wont 'spin' the debris and then it will get sucked up in the secondary system. Check all of these and if you still have problems then its time to replace filters.

My bissell 3120-3 is not sucking up dirt

if the vacuum is not sucking up dirt first check the hose to see if there is suction if you dont have suction there you need to follow the hose to the nearest connection remove the hose from there using screwdriver or some models will twist off check to see if there are any blockages, make sure the bag is not full if so replace bag with new one if needed, if bagless or if that dosent resolve the problem remove the cover plate for the roller, remove the roller and check the suction port that routes the dirt and debris to the dirt cup or the bag. you will just need to check all of the different routes to the bag or dirt cup, the best thing to have is a blower and you can blow through the different passways untill the clog is blown out, thanks I am sure that this info will help everyone if in alb visit the Vacuum Doctor, Don the doctor is always in!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like there's a clog in the long hose that connects to the dirt canister. Remove the hose completely and check for clogs. There is a blue plastic piece that the hose is attached to. You can remove it by taking out the two screws in the back, and the four screws behind the dirt canister. Once those are removed, the hose comes away from the vacuum with the blue plastic piece attached. That should allow you to check for clogs. If necessary, take the hose outside or a place that is well lit, so you can visually verify the absence of clogs.

Dirt devil mvp not sucking

Could be bad filters, is there suction at the end of the hose. That will tell you which direction to start looking. If no suction at hose end, then filters could be the problem. If you have suction, then the problem is down lower, dirt inlet is clogged, if belt has never been changed, then I am sure it has stretch to the point that under load it doesn't turn like it should. Could even be that although the motor is running, it may be running at a slower speed, in which case it would have to be replaced.

My dirt devil vacuum won't suck up anything and its brand new!!

Take the vac bag off and turn on the vac , it should blow air out, if not unclogg the hose where the bag connects, also when you check the roller and belt, unclog the flex hose(located inside base near roller assembly) that sucks up the dirt. As long as the motor works fine the rest is just maint.
