It's in the freezer section behind the access panel. towards the top of the evaporator. usually at the top of the evaporator clipped to the line.

I cannot find the defrost timer on my Frigidaire FRS3R4EB3; I've looked at manuals online and still can't figure it out. Anyone know?

You don't have a timer you have an adaptive defrost control which controls when it defrost. If your heater and defrost thermostat are ok then the control is bad. Part 23 on this diagram. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5153839&diagram_id=1247647#d1247647

I have looked all over that frs26zrf but have'nt found anything that resembles what i think is a a defrost timer.

In some units they are near imposable to find...some are located in side the freezer unit up top,you will have to prise out little plastic cover plugs to unscrew the unit.the timer may have seized up,turn it and feel if it turns freely.

thick frost on the back wall indicates a defrost problem, either with the defrost control, the heater, or the bimetal thermostat. Without personal inspection, i cant tell you which one it is, but i can narrow it down to those three

What if both sides of the refrigerator is not getting cold? And the back of the freezer side has frost.

Defrost problem. Either the defrost thermostat, defrost heater or defrost control board needs replacement. The defrost heater has to have continuity. The defrost thermostat has to have about 0 Ohms while it's cold. If both test out ok - replace defrost control board.
Part locations: Defrost heater and thermostat: under your frosted cover; control board - left upper corner of fresh food section, under the damper cover, in the middle.
Part numbers:
240554502 - control board
5303918255 - defrost heater kit
Can't find the part number for the defrost thermostat

Model FRS26ZRF, the freezer side is cooling down

It could be the defrost system? When you allowed to thaw, did you check the evaporator? It could be frozen? It will take longer to thaw. Is the evaporator fan working? It and the compressor will not, when the box is in defrost. Is your defrost working? Are your door gaskets sealing properly? Are your doors aligned properly? Some things to check. Good luck.

Freezer is running but the items are thawing and not freezing

it could possible be the defroster unit going out on the thermostat theres a hole on the bottom where you can access a screw that will allow you to check and see if the defroster is working put a srew driver in the hole and turn it clock wise till you here it click and then listen for the unit to start defrosting cycle you'll hear a hissing like sound if its working if not you'll need a new defrosting unit
