Question about Dacor 52'' Builtin Outdoor Grill Cover OVCB52

1 Answer

I have a dacor bbq in an island. Today we had very heavy rain. With that said, the lighter was on and making the typical clicking noises. I made sure that the gas was not on. Finally, I turned on the gas. Everything lit properly. The lighter and clicking stopped. However, the moment I turned off the gas the lighter and its clicking noises resumed. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The really odd thing about this, is one shouldn't affect the other. So, I suspect that some moisture got into the ignitor button or module during the heavy rain and is causing the ignitor to button/switch to make contact when it shouldn't. Dismantle the ignitor button, remove the battery and check for moisture. Even if you don't see any, use a Q Tip lightly sprayed with WD40 to clean the interior. The WD40 will dissipate any moisture and help to lubricate the contacts. Then check all the wiring from the module to the burner ignitors to make sure they are not grounding out on something that the wires shouldn't be touching.

Hope this helps to solve your problem.

I have a steady island with butcher block on top and it seems very heavy, can I pot wheels on it and turn it into a huge cart?

Sound s like a pretty hard task. I'm a greatbeliever in wheels and I think that you can wheel anything these days (theyhave to match the weight of the piece). Today there are whole kitchens withwheels. However, these kitchens are usually made out of light aluminum orlighter type of wood and not butcher blocks. In any event, I would have anexpert come over, like a carpenter or even someone from the store you boughtthis island and ask them if this is doable.

Are there kitchen islands that also have cart wheels?

Yes, there are few, but bear in mind that an island is a heavy piece of furniture to move and if it has kitchet appliances on top of it is even heavier so it is recommended to hardly move it. You may also consider getting an island without wheels and have a handy man or a carpenter put on the wheels for you, but you have to make sure that they match the size of the island and its weight.

CTS-V: Drive shaft "whip" or bad vibration in heavy rain.

Sorry I don't have a solution, just adding that you're not alone...

I just bought my '05 CTS-V on 8/31/09 and today (9/4/09) was the first time I've driven it in the rain. When I hit hard rain it sounded as if the tranny or rearend was going to fall off. I thought I had thrown an axle being or jacked up the tranny/rearend gears or something. The sound quieted down as I left the heavy stuff and then totally disappeared when I got to a dry area. One person said it was probably water hitting the undercarriage or wheel-well, but this was more than that. This sound was louder tan that and is not normal splashing water. If this noise was common, there'd be a heck of a lot more CTS owner complaining about it. I've never heard such a noise in any car I've ever been in when driving in the rain. I'd love to know what it was. I'm not even sure how to show or explain the problem to the dealership in order to get it fixed

If I'm not mistaken, these dacor cooktops have an automatic re-ignition (meaning if the flame goes out, it will just relight it without you having to do it) If none of your burners will light, you probably have a bad spark ignition module. These are somewhat hard to change, as you have to take all the burners off and disconnect the spark wires and take the whole top of the cooktop off to get to the inner workings. Also, to get these burner bases off it takes a special tool by dacor, AND you usually have to replace all the burner seals once you take them apart.Your other, simpler option is to unplug the cooktop and plug a lamp or something in to the outlet the cooktop is using, just to make sure you have power. Just cause the breaker doesn't look like it's tripped, doesn't mean it isn't bad and the outlet is dead. Hope this helps!
