If you are willing and able, remove the printer from the power source. Disconnect the cables from the back of the printer. Remove any paper from the paper feed tray. Holding the printer in both hands, carefully turn it upside down to see if anything falls out of the paper feed area.

What can cause a touching or rattling sound

Where is this rattling sound coming from? If it is the transmission, I would check to see if all the gears are properly seated. I would just double check all of the machinery that you took off by removing it again and re-checking the insides of what you replaced and if all is good, replace it again and check.

Totally dead

Was it ever dropped? The rattle is concerning. There is almost no way for you to do anything about this without taking it apart. That is not something that is easy to do though. Can you describe the rattle? Is it heavy sounding or light sounding? What is the location? You can take the covers off the back for the RAM, Hard Drive and battery and see if you can see anything rattling. See if the memory chip is lost inside. That could cause the problem.

The passive radiators on those are notorious for coming apart inside and making a knocking noise. You can sometimes glue it back together but youll have to remove the driver from the cabinet.

Paper jams when it starts printing almost immediately, I can tell its only on one side, sort of a twisting action.

You have a foreign object in the paper way. Remove the paper and turn in upside down and give it a firm shake.

You should hear the object rattling in it. If it does not fall out. use a small flashlight to locate it and the remove it.
after removing it, give it another shake, and keep removing and shaking until ther is no more rattling.
Then it should work fine.

Paper jams galore!!!

Every time I see that it's just something that fell into the back slot. Sometimes screws, candy wrappers, pens, push pins. That printer just doesn't do that without something falling in. One person shook it upside down and a BIC pen fell out. Check inside the back before you pay expensive repairs. I charge $69.00 to remove whatever is in there.

Strange rattle when microwaving

Chances are the blade assembly has come loose on the shaft of the internal cooling fan.

This can be solved with a couple of drops of super glue at the spot where the blade and shaft meet, then allow it to dry for several minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you'll see the cooling fan.

Please let us know what you find.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Service error 5C00

Service error 5C00 might indicate the purge system.

The "rattling sound " is probably coming from the (gears of-) socalled purge unit. May be one ( or both) of the ink tanks is not properly put back in again,or the printhead-lock is not locked. and the purge system is blocked.

Remove the ink tanks and remove the printhead, closw the printhead-lock, close the printhead cover, switch the printer of, switch the printer on again. If the rattling sound is still there, than you might have an expensive problem to be solved.
If the rattling sound is gone, there is probably something wrong with the printheadlock.
