Question about Western Digital 1TB My Passport Essential SE USB 3.0 Portable External, WDBACX0010BBKSN USB 2.0 Hard Drive
On occasion the power supplied to these types of external harddrives is not enough to satisfy the power needs of the device. Sometimes additional power is needed - an easy way to test this is to try plugging the drive into a usb port on the back of a desktop and see if you have the same problem.
Additional power can be provided via a special type of cable that allows you to draw additional power from a second usb port on the computer.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
