You will likely need to re-install the drivers. If you are running windows type your dvd drive model name and number and your version of windows into google. To find your model name and number go into device manager from the control panel or by searching for device manager from the start menu. Then under DVD/CD-ROM drives you should see your device named.

Now type into google the follwing : windows drivers

**where the words in are replaced with your corresponding information.

Then download the driver from a site on google, follow the added instructions (usually located within a txt file within the downloaded folder to install the driver). Once done reboot your computer and it should work.

I have laptop hp compaq nx 5000, its DVD drive is not working when I connect external DVD drive it does not shown in my computer and show error message og hub power surge problem. Kindly guide me how to...

external devices must be formatted to work properly. You can try to roll back your onboard dvd driver to an earlier version and possibly by doing so it will once again work properly

Dvd/cd-rom drive tsstcorp cddvdw ts-1633a ata device stopped working

First check in bios under boot device priority if cd dvd drive is listed or not, if not then reseat the dvd drive, if yes the follow the steps.
1. Uninstall the cd dvd drive from device manager and also ATA Channel0 and ATA Channel1 and restart the compter, and then check.
2. If the above step doesnt resolve your issue then
In the run box type regedit, go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE - SYSTEM - Control Set001 - Control - Class - {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} - On the right hand side check for upper or lower filters if you find one delete it.
Do the same with Control Set002 and Current Control set.
Restart the computer and you will see the issue is resolved for sure.
If not then reseat the dvd drive and then repeat the steps

Hello my Dell Studio 1435, it can read CD but not reading DVD... it give noise when i put DVD..

Try using a good quality DVD cleaner first. The lens for cd/dvd are different so one may work if the other is dirty. If cleaning does not work then the dvd lens may be out of alignment or broke. With today's prices it is cheaper to replace the drive $30-40 than try to repair it. Hope this helps.

Re-Installing Windows XP in "Repair" Mode... DVD Combo Drive Issue

What Motherboard do you have? What DVD drive do you have? It sounds like the best thing to do would be to clear your CMOS and start from scratch. This should resolve any driver/windows/bios related issues with your drive, and allow you to install windows as normal. There is always the possibility that there is actually a hardware fault with your dvd drive - do you only have the one connected, or do you have a second drive. Please post back with your motherboard details (easiest way to find this if you don't know is to open the PC case up, and read it off the board itself - usually will be printed in quite large letters, often between two of the expansion slots - and should be something like "P5LD2" or "2e6av2" or similar) The method to clear your CMOS will depend on the type of motherboard - it is not a complicated job although on some boards it can be a bit fiddly. You need to be competent enough to work inside the pc case without damaging anything. Hope this helps :) Waiting for your details.
