Check what cable you plugged into the xbox...and be sure is not the main internet cord that it supposed to be in the wlan port of the router ...and get a cable from one of the router's LAN port into the xbox..and leave the main one into the wlan ..this way you will have wireless ...if the configuration on cables is ok ...get into the settings of the router from the admin computer the settings were made in the first place ....and see whats wrong with the wireless settings ..they may be disabled by mistake ..or another odd reason ...and enable the wireless transmitting again ..

Do u need a wireless adaptor to set up xbox live??

No, a Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter is not required to access, and set up Xbox Live, but you will need an internet connection. If you are close enough to a modem or router, you can buy an Ethernet cord, and plug it in to both the modem/router, and firmly into your Xbox 360 console. You will either need the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter, or the Ethernet cord. Ethernet cords are very cheaper, much cheaper than a Wireless Adapter, but the Wireless Adapters are much or easier to reason with. So choose wisely with money.

Ok my consle is an xbox 360 arcade i have an eathnet cord and coneted it to my compter and it still wont work and i dont no how to set up my xbox live

how to connect the 360 to the Live network.
Before you do anything you are going to need to decide how you plan on connecting the bad boy. The 360 supports both wired and wireless connections. In order to use a wireless connection you will need the Xbox 360 Wireless adapter. Personally I find the wireless connection to be a bit too temperamental for my liking so I go with a wired connection via a router, but not everyone has the same wireless experience.
To set up the connection via a router unplug the router and the modem and turn off the 360. Connect an Ethernet cable to one of the out ports of the preexisting router then connect the cord to the back of your 360. Plug everything back in and turn and give the modem and router about 3 minutes to reboot.
Once you have given everything a few minutes to reboot you can turn the 360 back on. If you have already set up a gamer profile you will see the Xbox Live screen. If you have not set up an account you will be prompted to do so. All you need to do is follow the on screen instructions. It is a pretty cut and dry process and should not take more than 10 minutes of your time.

Why does my xbox lag i got wireless router and modem but it started lagging 3 months ago for no apparent reason, no computer just laptop and that works fine upstairs in the same room as x box

There could be a trojan in one of the pc's that is leaking into the xbox making it run bad. Believe it or not, it was happening to our xbox. 3 pc's on one modem wireless, all were fine but one and the xbox 360 was direct into the modem via ethernet. We'd take my sons pc off line and the xbox would work great. Put the pc back online (connected to wireless) and the connection on xbox was back to awful.

Check and see if that's the problem.

Xbox 360 wireless ownt work

xbox 360 wireless adapters are usally the worst to get.
i suggest buying a long enough ethernet cord and using that, a 50m ethernet cord is around about $25. so pretty cheap.

Wireless router cannot connect to XBOX Live

I have a linksys 10/ 1000 card and a 2wire wirless router and had the same problem. You need to go to your control panel and double click the wireless network. Once you set it up you need to make sure that if you have a firewall that the xbox has permission to access the net. Also all wireless devices have a security measure some have WEP keys and others have passwords you need to find out what yours is.

Ethernet won't reconise modem for xbox live

Once you have everything hooked up:
Ethernet cord going from modem into wireless router in port labelend internet or wan, and an ethernet cord going from the router to the xbox you should try these steps:

Unplug the power cord on the modem and plug it back in- once all the lights come back on
Unplug power cord on router and plug it back in-

Hope this helps.

you need to set static ip's for the xbox 360 and the lan that is on the pc, easy to bride the two connections on your computer, then set static on the lan that the 360 is plugged in to, example:
360's static settings:
ip: 192.168.1.14 sub: 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 ------------------------------- computers settings:
ip 192.168.1.15 sub 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1

Xbox 360 to Windows XP?? Problems

When you hooked up the XBOX 360 it most likely, by default, made another network name but used teh same wireless hook up. Meaning when it is unplugged you need to:

1. Right click on the icon in the bottom right corner of the screen that has your wireless connections (Usually a picture of one or two computers)

2. Click on CONNECT TO A NETWORK

3. Find your network and connect.

That should work.

when your in the dashboard on your 360 go to the right all the way to the system slide. click netowrk settings then click the ip address box be sure this is set to automatic, and be suree that the DNS box is on automatic as well. if this doesnt work then your cables may be hooked up wrong or some other issue.
