Yes, the problem is that electronic/electrical components age with use. especially voltage regulators and switching transistors. as they age they can no longer sustain the current you are demandiing from the unit. the units are designed to run in the middle zone, not at full maximum load all the time, if you do that you will weat it out quicker. Always buy a power supply that is double your intended wattage and it will last many years. Hope this answers your question
