Question about Proform Exercise & Fitness

I have a Proform 545s treadmill with incline and with ifit. When i start the treadmill it will no longer attain the programed speed. The higher the speed programed the fast the treadmill will go; however, it will no get up to speed. What might this be? I bought the treadmill secod-hand. Wheni bought it about 8 months ago, it ran well; however, at higher speeds, after prolonged use, i thought the motor was causing an odor--the smell of a motor burning up. I reduced my speeds but as i have said it will no longer reach the programed speed Steven

I have a proform 545s as well and it would light up when pluged in but you could not use the speed settings at all. i figured out how to fix it just by tinkering around with it. i removed the back cover on the programer up top and exposed the circiut board. there is are 2 ribbon like sets of wires that come from the speed controler. the plug into the circuit board with a whit clip. pop loose the white clip on both of there and you will see a series of prongs that come in contact with the ribbon. using a small flat head screwdriver you must bend these prongs in slightly to close the gap between the two. it took me a couple tries to bend them enough to make contact again. i tried it and to my surprise it works great. the fan still is not working but i am trying to trouble shoot that now. hope this helps you....

Turn off the treadmill and unplug it from the electrical outlet or surge protector. Remove the motor cover with your screwdriver by removing any screws. Refer to your treadmill manual because the location of the motor cover and the number of screws varies per model.

Detach any wires that are connected to the control board but leave them connected to the treadmill. Make sure the LED on the control board is off before removing wires carefully with your hands. Your treadmill may contain wires such as elevation wires, on/off connections, motor wires and sensor wires, but refer to your treadmill manual for all the wires to detach because models vary for the number and type of wires connected to the control board. Remove the control board.

Clean the inside of any dust with the can of compressed air because dust can cause issues with the treadmill. Install the new control board. Reconnect all the wires and screws to the new control board. Install the motor cover back in its place with all the needed screws.

Recalibrate the treadmill per the manual. Treadmill calibration is when you accurately register the incline and speed feedback of your treadmill. This should be done every time you replace your control board or motor.

It sounds a lot like it might be your Motor Control Board. You can find one used on varios websites (ebay if you're lucky). I found one for $149.00 on the following website:

I hope you got a good deal on it because it seems to be quite an expensive part.

Thanks and good luck!

Some voltage checks will need to be made to determine if the console or the motor controller is causing the problem.

I am sending you a wiring schematic of the treadmill that will show you where to test.

To test the voltage you must put the treadmill in the calibration mode. The console might beep at you while you are testing. You must let it beep, it won't damage anything. I am sending you the instructions for putting the treadmill into the calibration mode.

After you have calibrated the console on the treadmill, put it into calibration mode and push stop 2 times and press speed up but don't go to 85%. With the motor hood removed test the voltage between the black and blue wires. If you have the voltage there and the motor is not running, the motor controller is bad.

If you have no voltage on black and blue, remove the console and test the voltage between black and blue at the console. Leave all connectors connected for testing. If you don't have the voltage at the console, the console is bad. If you have the voltage at the console, the wire harness between the console and the controller are bad.,wgdqqdbwgrftw...,wgdqqdbbwgdgf...,wgtsgfqqgswwr...

    Thanks and good luck!

I have a model 297980 J8 proform treadmill. when I first start it up without the safety key in it, the treadmill runs at full speed for about 2 minuets. After that it slows down and stops. The speed is set...

You have to put the safety key in if you want to select speed/incline or predefined programs.
It starts and runs at full speed on that occasion because it's part of the maintenance process, that lubricates the inner rollers so that it will continue to work perfectly for as long as possible.

Treadmill not working properly. Incline keeps slipping.

there is a plastic spacer at the rack area on the incline mtr- this white plastic spacer has broken, only recourse u have is to unplug the white wire on incline mtr, and never have a incline, or replace incline mtr when you find out how much the mtr is you might want to walk with out incline- if you was in my area, I have them cheaper

Will my ifit treadmill card work in an incline

Technically, the Incline Trainer and the treadmill are two different type of machines. The incline trainer raises much higher so the card that is designed for the treadmill will not work on the incline trainer unfortunately.

Ifit treadmill will not incline but everything else works, how do I fix the incline

You may need to calibrate the incline. Do this with the following procedure.
Safety key out
press the stop and speed up buttons at the same time while inserting the safety key. (you are now in diagnostics)
press the stop button one time only.
now press the incline up button (incline motor should start moving up)
incline will go up to the top and then all the way to the bottom. when it gets done you can remove the key. Reinsert the key and you should be operating normally.
Good luck Tim

Need owner's manual for treadmill

1. When walking on the treadmill the belt abruptly stops.
2. As the speed increases so does the noise. Is this associated with the belt tension? Tightening the belt causes the belt not to move at all. What might be the solution to 1 & 2?
