Question about Refrigerators
It is a well known defect.
the ice is builing up until it interferes with the fan.
The samsung people will not help you. You are screwed.
A&E appliance repair(Sears) told us to take all the food out and leave the doors open for 24 hours.
This happens at least once a month.
We cannot ever buy a fridge from Samsung again or from Lowes.
They ****** us hard. Good luck

That sound is usually your icemaker calling for water. you can turn off your icemaker by lifting the little arm on the icemaker. As the icemaker calls for water the valve will be activated and will hum. This sound is usually not very loud. If your valve is making that much noise you may consider replacing the valve. The part number for you water inlet valve is #2315533 The retail price is $60.18 . I do have these on hand and available to ship out today if you need one. Please just let me know. You may also consider replacing your filter if your refrigerator has one. Thanks and I hope this will fixYa

SOURCE: refridge makes a loud noise
are you sure it is the compressor making the noise and what sort of noise is it. if it is the compressor, there is no cure except replacement which is not diy.

Sounds like the freezer fan is rubbing some wires or possible some foam insulation around the fan. I would look into the freezer compartment fan and go from there. The fan Will Shut off when you open the doors. Let me know how you make out and if you need anymore help.

My hot point freezer fan was making a variable hollowing sound as well. I talked to a repair guy and he mentioned that the bushings seem to wear out on the fan motor located under the ice maker. I ordered a new motor $82.70 and replaced it myself. Took about an hour to replace and it fixed the problem.

I have had what sounds like the same problem for over a year with my Samsung RF263 refrig. It makes very loud popping noises like expansion noises when heat hits your house siding or a railroad track. The noises are loud enough that they actually startle people, and our cat. I had a repair man in last May 2013 but no luck.
I finally did a lot of listening, testing, etc. and found the problem. I noticed it would occur whenever the compressor came on. I thought it might be ice build up, so I took the cover plate off over the evaporator in the back of the refrig compartment. There was no ice build up. I then left the cover off and wiring attached and no noise after a day. After a few other trials I added some more weather stripping to increase the distance between the evaporator coils and the cover plate and that help quite a bit but not totally. I still get a pop now and then. Another problem I noticed with this partial solution is that it causes the shelving to not be aligned. A 'V' gap forms between the shelves and they droop a little. I'm still trying to figure out how to fix this but haven't had any good ideas yet.
This is a very annoying problem and a design flaw in my opinion. Whether Samsung has a solution for it I don't know but I plan on checking before my warranty runs out.
