Can you try to jump y and r at the thermostat sub base, if this turns on the ac then you have a bad thermostat. If not then the relay on the board might be bad. Let me know what you find

I have a goodman a49-20 I cannot get the blower motor to come on with on fan or cool at the thermostat. I can get it to come on on heat and auto but when I switch the thermostat settings on the blower to on when running it shuts off and I cannot run the ac. I have had all the heating interanals replaced by a tech three months ago in the winter and it works fine I just cant get it to cut on in ac mode. I can jumper the y and r and the outside condensor kicks on
i can flip the breaker on the unit off for 10 mins or so and when i flip it on motor runs for maybe 20 secs and stops therm set to fan on only

Hi thanks the relay is round with terminals on the both sides it is round like a coin and cylinder. I can flip the breaker and it will run for about 10 secs each time and stop

Thanks for all the help people. I had the ac company come back and it was relays the guy wired the fan through the heat instead of heat and ac. I also went ahead and put in new blower motor while he was in there. I took a total rewire to get it corrected.

The motor coil has gone bad. You have rewind the motor coil. Or you have to purchase a new motor.

But, check if you are under Warrantee. If so do not try to repair it yourself. Warrantee will void. Contact the service center or help line.

That's a multi speed motor. High speed (black wire) is used for cooling. Heat uses low speed (red wire on motor). This reeks of a bad relay. The relay stays on low (red) for heat at all the time. When cool is called for that relay must shift the power from the low speed red wire to the high speed black wire for cooling. Why? Because heating requires a gentler slower speed than cooling which requires a higher speed. What does that there relay look like? But they do also use a relay called peanut which looks like this: themobilian_2002.jpg
Your new fangled central units use a circuit board to drive the fan motor and therefore a relay on that board is probably the culprit. You fan motor can be easily checked. The white common wire can be connected to one leg of a 120 test cord and any speed black Hi or red Lo can be individually tested by briefly applying 120 house current to each speed. You can never connect more than one speed at a time or the motor wI have a goodman a49-20 I cannot get the blower - themobilian_2003.jpg />

These relays have solenoids in them that are activated by low voltage from the thermostat (24 volts) I don't thank your transformer is bad. Or you would not be able to get anythang to work on the unit. It must be a bad relay.

the fan fill come on with the sequencer (stack switch you call it) it will also come on with the fan relay. on some goodmans the fan relay is the black box on the circuit board. use a jumper to jump red to green, this should bring the fan on sounds like you could have a broken green wire, try using a different wire instead of green

Its possible but you might try a little diagnostics first. Put your thermostat in the off position and the fan switch in the auto position. Make sure the switch on the air handler inside is on. Now have someone stand by the blower while you switch the fan switch back and forth from auto to on. If the person at the blower hears a clicking sound from inside the blower cabinet you probably have a bad motor. But if you hear nothing it probably means you don't have power. Check the blower door to make sure its tight and the safety switch is depressed. The wall switch should be tested. Don't have any easy ways to check for power without a volt meter. Hope this helps good luck.

Blower runs constantly both warm and cool air

If talking about a hot air furnace check that you dont have t stat fan switch in auto position. As this will run blower continously regardless if calling for heat or cool is has ac also.

GMPN 100-4 furnace. Blower motor runs when not calling for heat.

The board is bad. The unit thinks a flame is present, so it tells the blower to come on. Replace the board.

Personally I would get an exact replacement capacitor same voltage rating and microfarud rating. The capacitor will read something like 370v 5uf. I would be surprised if that's not the whole problem. If not it needs an exact evaporative fan replacement, and the new Capacitor. Happy cooling!
