There may be two separate fuses in your unit; one of them of lower value that protects the electronics section that uses lower voltages, then a second that is in series with the circuit that supplies the magnetron with much higher current and a power source that supplies the magnetron itself. Unplug the unit, remove the housing and look for two fuses, one rated at 20 Amps, the other a lot lower.
If the fuses are OK and magnetron hasn't failed, it may be the high voltage/high current diode or diode bridge.
None of these parts are terribly costly but the labor may make you decide that 5 years is long enough and just buy a new one.

Put a quart of watwer in the oven, measure the temp. run it for 4 min and you should get at least 86 degrees differance in temp. If not then the magnatron has failed and needs replaced, or for the money a newer unit is a better deal.

Sadly your microwave has done it's last cooking. The mechanism you need to make it cook again would cost you more than a replacement microwave.

We have the same model. It's a piece of garbage. I loved the retro oval window and all and the size was perfect for our space. Then, the paint started chipping off the inside front, the timer started working intermittently, and the oven would just quit in the middle of the cooking cycle! Today, it finally just up and died. I unplugged and replugged it. No go. Finished cooking on stove top. My suggestion? Do like we're going to do and go buy another microwave...not another GE!

Good luck! Peacenikkie@charter.net

Yes. As the magnetron (The microwave generator) ages with use it becomes less efficient. As such it produces less powerful microwaves and loses penetrating power:::Spiceweasel.au
