First thing to check for is your defrost timer manual or electric if it is an electric then click this link it will state how to test the defrost timer http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/check/defrosttimer.php if your timer is manual then you would turn it with a screwdriver to advance the timer into the deforst cycle if you have any further questions message me back it also states in the link how to advance the electronic timer as well on page 2 and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation when our chat has fully concluded it allows me to help others in similar situations I await your reply if you have any further questions Thanks Rick

My Amana refrigerator defrost timer is supposed to cycle every eight hours. Instead it takes about 14 hours to cycle around back to the defrost mode. The defrost mode does last for the proper 20 minutes....

Relax, some people exagerate was all I was saying.
Anyhow, go to a good parts store and ask for a Supco EDT (Electronic Defrost Timer) replacement as they are more reliable and not much difference in price.

Amana afb2534dew compressor does nor come on, there is light do not hear the fan

There is a control issue there. Check if th/ stat is closed circuit and if it is an auto defrost system, look for the defrost timer. forward the dial and it should come on.(assuming the compressor is cold to the toutch.).

Amana energy saver not keeping fridge section cool enough. HELP!

if there is frost build up on rear wall of freezer section the unit is not going through defrost cycle which builds up frost on evaporator and restricts cold air flow to the fresh food section. one of three things are bad. defrost heater, defrost thermostat or defrost timer. if no frost on rear wall you might be low of freon.

Refrigerator warm but freezer is fineChanged the evaporator fan (12013211q)for BR18Ve Amana...Is it possible that the part last only a couple of years...

If your bottom freezer has ice build up, (you will see it frosted up), you do not have proper air flow. Check to see if your defrost elements are working. They are in the freezer compartment. in the evaporator. There is a defrost timer on the bottom of your fridge. You can turn the knob until the refergerator turns off, then listen in the frezzer compartment to se if the elements are working. (You will hear them sizzle)
