Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

My volume keeps increasing and decreasing by itself , when playing music or playing games - basically the whole system volume. Ive got Mc Caffery Firewall and Avast anti virus , the Avast picks up some files related to system volume which i then delete and yet the problem persists.

Sorry I think I posted it in the wrong box (i.e solution box)....but yeh I have the same problem on My Toshiba A200. It happened when using media player. I thought maybe it was the automatic volume levelling but I was pretty syre that doesn't increase or decrease system volume. Mine went from 15 ---> 18 then 24 can be annoying having to keep turning it down

Slotomania won't load keep getting spinning circle

Quit certain applications and see if that helps it to load efficiently.
Always get it scanned by doing Scan Disk and Defragmenter. Other software such as Norton 360 will do the trick to keep your system in top performance. Clear the cache from the internet explorer and make sure you have the anti-virus and firewall software up-to-date.
If that doesn't do the trick here's one more idea. Purchase an external hard drive enclosure it will allow you to just move the hard drive from the system if you don't prying hands around your system. This way you can play the game when you insert the USB cable and turn it on or if you want to install it internally then you do so by just opening the system case, finding an available SATA cable and power cable and drive bay for the hard drive. You install it and you can use this for your games and applications only.
It's separated from the main Windows hard drive but it will work as long as you can install Slotomania on another hard drive. I have the same thing for my games. A whole hard drive dedicated to games only. Some things are better to be on another hard drive then the system hard drive. If you get a 500 GB or 1 TB WD SATA, connected to the system and partitioned and install that inside then you can just reinstall the software in that. You can partition it to 116GB each and use it to basically run games on partition and the rest for applications and programs.

Memory is too low to play downloads. I have no sound either.

Two separate issues. Do you mean you don't have enough system memory? Look up the system requirements for the game your trying to play. You did not list what OS your using. If its XP, try increasing the Virtual Memory. You do this by right clicking on "My Computer" Go to "Advanced" In the "Performance Options" click on "Advanced" There you can increase your Virtual Memory. Also check and clean out your "Startup" by clicking on "Start" then "Run" Then type in the word msconfig
Then click ok. Go to the "Statup" tab and clean out what you do not need.

I bought a new encore soundcard and had it installed ,into which of its 6 slots do i insert my headphone jack?

Usually it should be plugged into the light-green slot.
Make sure sound is increased in Volume control. You may have to double-click the volume icon on taskbar and increase all the controls.
Play a music and plug the headphone jack into each slot one after the other. Don't worry, it won't damage the sound card or the computer.
Best of luck!

I play Age of Empires II all the time and it works perfect online, etc with Gamespy.... now I just bought Age of Mythogogy today. I get sound and music in the introduction plus the main screen but nothing...

Need more info. The intro video requires less resources than the game itself, so thats no indication.Without knowing more about your sys, It sounds like your system doesn't conform to the minimum system specs for the game. Or there are apps that are using resources preventing your game to run. Go to www.tweakguides.com.
