Question about Computers & Internet
If the laptop has been running on batteries only and there was no activity, it is possible for its power management to turn the back light off in order to conserve the battery before the laptop was shut down. You should plug-in the AC adapter for a few hours before turning the laptop again. If possible, it is best to leave the AC adapter plugged in at all times and only be on battery only when it is really the only option. Laptop batteries are all Lithium-Ion which do not have any charge memory but do not like to be totally discharged so it is best to keep the laptop on the AC adapter at all times. The built-in power management will prevent the battery from over-charging. Read the manual as to the key sequence required to turn the back light on if it doesn't come on by itself. On Acer netbooks/laptops, the back light on/off is done by pressing the Fn key at the bottom left of the keyboard and while holding it down, press the F6 key which is at the top center of the keyboard. As a check that what I have said is in fact happening, with the back light off, it is still possible to just barely see what is on the screen by shining a bright light on it. If nothing happens even when you press the keys to turn on the back light and you also cannot see anything even with a bright light shone on the screen, then you might try to plug in an external monitor to the laptop's VGA output connector - it is a miniature DB-15 connector on the side or back of the laptop. If this doesn't work either, then you should take the unit back to the retailer since you bought it new and should be possible to exchange it up to 30 days from the date of purchase. If you don't have satisfaction and you paid by credit card, contact the credit card company for a remedy.

It sounds like your computer may be hibernating or asleep. Trying pressing any key to see if the display comes back. If that doesn't work, press and hold the power button until the computer shuts down and then try to restart it. Let me know what happens.
If the display does come back, we can change the hibernation, sleep, and turn display of settings to your preferences.
If the display does not come back on, then there is another problem we will have to explore.
Let me know.

I am using this great LCD for about an year. But few times in the past my LCD didnt show up the display though the Green light was still ON, turning off the LCD and opening it again always solved the problem. But now My LCD completely went blank. Turning off/on didnt work at all now. I've tried couple of other tweaks mentioned on this site but they didnt work. I am just seeing a blank screen with green light ON. and ya theres a very low hissing sound coming from the LCD.
