The dishwasher will not do anything. The normal wash cycle led flashes and the lcd display shows --. I have reset the breaker and tried to reset the dish washer and still nothing.

I re checked the mod of the dishwasher and it is a GU3200XTPS4. The time remaining LCD display shows two dashes and the normal wash cycle light is continuously flashing. I tried to hold the cancel button down and nothing changes. I shut the electric breaker off and the LCD display shows the number 2. The washer will drain and soon after the normal cycle light starts flashing and the two dash marks appear. I saw in the manual that the two dashes possibly mean that the door is open, however it is not.

    Thank You

I checked the door latch and everything seems to be working ok. I think that I located the Thermal fuse. I located it clipped to the control board and if it is the correct one, it is round with two male power connections. I noticed that it made a rattle sound, like a blown light bulb, when I pulled it off is that normal. I also noticed that I had no lights on the front of the panel display, when I pulled the fuse. I am unsure how to properly test the fuse.

    Thanks Travis

The fuse is back in the dishwasher and I turned the power back on. The washer is now running like it normal should, so far. I did not do a continuity test on the switch or the fuse, i will have to get my multimeter and check it, just to make sure it is ok. Thanks for your help, I have been pulling my hair out for the past day. I will let you know how it is working.

    Thank you very much

ok have you checked the thermal cutoff fuse located on the inside of the door also have you checked the door switch if the switch that connects to the handle is broken this would give you this door error as well. if both the fuse and the switch are intact and working properly you would next check your control panel to assure that this is fuctioning properly as well usually the blinking normal light does point to an error withiin the control but i have seen the thermal cutoff and the handle switch make this happen as well so check both of these first before going to test your control and message me back with your finds Thanks Rick

you would remove the fuse and do a continuity test with a multimeter from one side to the next but seeing how im looking at more and more on this while we are messageing back and forth alot more posts im finding on the normal cycle light flashing beiing attributed to the control board being blown or having a fault also when you checked the switch on the door did you do a continuity test on the switch to assure that it is working properly I await the answers to the questions Thanks Rick

Hi
Door latch.
Open and close the door to make sure the door latch is securely fastened.
Check the dishwasher wiring for a possible loose connection where it connects to the house wiring.
Fuses or circuit breakers.
Check your house fuses or circuit breakers to make sure you have power to the dishwasher.

FRIGIDAIRE DISHWASHER CLEAN LIGHT FLASHING WILL NOT WASH OR DO ANYTHING

Do what 'mrrevo'l says to reset the dishwasher, and next time, try not to open the door during the wash cycle. Make sure that all the cycles are complete before opening the door. Especially don't open the door during the drying cycle.

Will Not Run

I had the exact same problem. The tech came by and suggested to run the diagnostic cycle to clear up the error. Nice guy didn't charge for the time. He said Whrilpool has a poor software design.
Problem - LED blinks 7 times when the temperature doesn't come up to the degree F required for the wash. This may happen if someone took a shower minutes before starting the dishwasher.
The Tech said, Whirlpool should have allowed a straight forward reset by the customer (instead of disabling the machine for a tech to come by and fix the minor issue).
Here is the solution.
Solution - (is pretty much the same to clear up the other software glitches as well)
Try "resetting" the control board by running the diagnostic cycle. The cycle completes in 15 minutes.
The details are in the service manual. The manual can be found hidden behind the tow plate (at the very bottom front of the washer).
The diagnostic cycle may tell you the problem. It also helps clear up some of the software gltiches.
It is easy to run the diagnostic cycle.
Just the buttons in the following sequence. The sequence should be complete within 6 sec.
heated dry -> Normal -> heated dry -> Normal
This will trigger diagnostic cycle of 19 intervals. Pay special attention to the intervals 18, 17, 9, 6, 4.
Interval 18 - displays your controller module number (should be letter 'd' followed by number 0 or 1 or 2 or something. Note that down for future reference.
Interval 17 displays 'software generation number' Note that down for future reference.
Then wait until you reach interval 9.  --- clean LED turns on - then an open or shorted thermister is detected.
-- Sanitized LED turns on - then the washer detected greater than 100 deg F temperature
Interval 7
-- Soaking/sensing LED should NOT come on (unless food soil is present).
Interval 4 -- Soaking/sensing LED should come on

Let the cycle complete and then try running the normal wash. Hopefully the possible glitches are cleared by now and you should have no problem.
If this doesn't work, time to call the expert tech.

Quiet guard 3 dishwaher

QuietGuard3: Clean light flashing 7 times? Press Heated Dry, press Normal Wash, then press Heated Dry again and press Normal Wash again (that's 4 button-presses) and that should fix it.
