Question about HP Computers & Internet

I have a HP pavilion Entertainment PC and well i just got it and well when i start it the computer just says system diagnostics and there are four options f1 f2 f3 f4 and they all are tests and then it says visit www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup and when i click on one of the test it just says no hard disk and also no boot found so then nothing happens what can i do.

It sounds like someone may have wiped the hard drive for you. The diagnostic screen comes up because the system cannot find the basic information that it needs from the hard drive to start the system. What you should probably do is restore the computer to the original factory default condition. HP had 2 ways of doing this. They would either include restore cd's with the computer, or they would "hide" the information on the hard drive.

What you can try and do is startup your computer. As soon as you power it up press the "F10" key. A recovery menu should appear on the screen after a few seconds. As soon as the recovery menu appears choose to do the System Recovery. You should be able to just press the NEXT button on the screen to start the process. On the next screen that comes up you should be able to choose YES. Then the System Recovery process should begin. It may take some time to finish the process. You should keep an eye on it as you may have to press some keys to finish the process. The computer will probably reboot at least once. Eventually the system will be recovered, and you should then be able to use the compute.

If F10 does not start the process then your system either needs a restore CD, or the recovery information may be missing or corrupt. You might want to contact the person who sold you the computer and ask them if they ever restored the system, and what they had to do to run the recovery process.

You need to replace the hard drive or make sure the cable is connected properly. If it appears correct and you believe the hard drive is good try connecting them to the secondary controller. Essentially your computer is not detecting the hard drive in the Bios. A second possibility is that the hard drive is detected but has been formatted or is corrupt and can't be used in that condition to boot the machine. If you don't have the system restore disk you should be able to download them from HP. If this is a brand new computer take it back to the store or contact HP support to have it repaired for free.

If you just got the computer new from HP, you should definitely contact HP support. The computer cannot tell that you have a hard drive in your computer. It could be an error with the hard drive itself or the hard drive connector. Unless you are comfortable opening the bottom of your laptop and checking the hard drive connection, you should contact HP.

I have an hp Pavilion Entertainment pc that has sounded an alarm at 6:00 am the last two mornings. What is this? Hp couldn't help me.


If it's not an alarm you set, it may some sort of malware. Run a spyware and virus check on your computer and see if anything comes up. If not, open your Task Manager (on the Start menu, click Run, type "taskmgr.exe" and hit Enter) and look under the processes and services tabs to see if anything resembling a clock or alarm program is running. If it is, and it's something you don't want or need, end it.

if nothing(even hp logo ) is not coming on the display then please try this.
1.remove the battery and then press the power button for 30 sec.Again refix it and check.
2.If windows sound is there then this mught be the issue with display.

3.If there is no windows sound might be the issue with RAM so please get it checked.

This could be caused by a corrupted operating system, a virus or a faulty memory card. You may first try to restore your computer to a date when you think it last allowed you to download something. See if it works.

To run system restore, go to start>all programs>accessories>system restore.

First verify you keyboard works.

The easiest way to do this is to hit F1 when you see the HP logo.

This shouild take you into setup (bios)

If it lets you in hit F10 and exit BIOS.

Reboot.

Press F8 BEFORE windows starts to load.

Select safe mode.

Once in windows run a system restore.

To access System Restore, go to Start and select Programs, Accessories, System Tools, then System Restore.

Restore your system to a time when it was working correctly.

Reset the password for hp pavilion entertainment dv4


i dont know if this will work, restart and press f8, enter safemode and you will see 2user option, select which one will make u able to log in, if this successful,
1. system restore: restore your computer on the date before he reset the password
or
2. open control panel and create new account

the last option is format it and i know you don't want to do that.
