Top water outlet doesn't spin

Not sure of the vintage of your Maytag dishwasher, but this may work for yours.
1. Remove the upper rack by releasing the stop clips on the ends of the rack rail; push the ends of the clips towards center of machine - this may require the help of a small screwdriver.
2. The upper spray arm assembly is mounted to the ceiling of the wash chamber by large (2" diameter) fluted nut that butts right against the ceiling sheet metal. Simply remove that nut by hand, and the whole assembly will come out.
3. Looking into the top of center feed hole, you'll see 4 plastic clip ends holding the 3 pieces together. Use a 1/4# socket or nutdriver to press all 4 clips inward until they come free.
4. The spray arm halves are welded together, so you'll have to clean out any clogs using a pointy tool and some water flushing.
5. Reassembly is the reverse order.
Good luck!

go here and look at parts, the nut number 14 in diagram comes loose and this causes noise from parts not lining up,this is an easy check, pull the washer forwards and then tilt it back against the wall, remove the bottom panel and then remove the shield part number 20 in diagram, check the nut and see if you can push the parts up that are above the nut,i've found this nut loose in a few machines, when you buy the new nut it has blue lock tight on the treads,if it is loose and you have some blue lock tight you can try adding some to the treads or buy a new nut if this is what you find, otherwise without being there i couldn't really help you out but check that nut first.

How to take off the top ball joint nut with an open end wrench without stripping the nut?

Usual method,Pull the cotter pin and use 2 open end wrenches,on top of each other to increase the contact area and pull slowly. The nut should come off.
2nd method, use a sharp air chisel and split the nut apart.
3rd method, shield the CV boot and heat the nut or cut it off flush with a torch.
4th method, freeze the nut with 134a and then remove it with the 2 wrenches.
5th method,Cut across it at an angle with an air cut off tool
down to the ball joint threads to release the nut pressure then remove it with one wrench.
Do you need more methods?

If the lower and upper spray arms do not turn what could be the problem? I have a MDB4100AWB and I of course have hard water in our area and wondering what is causing the spray arms to turn.

could be the plastic shaft extension that screws onto the motor shaft to drive the pump. The threads on the plastic extension would sometimes get stripped out so that even though the motor is running, it isn't driving the pump mechanism. Assuming the dishwasher is filling with water and motor is running during the wash cycle. also check spray arm openings to make sure they aren't plugged up.

DOES NOT WASH CLEAN, EVEN WITH THE TOP SETTING. PARTICLES STICK TO INSIDE OF CUPS.

Make sure the filters and sumps down in the bottom of the tub are cleaned out, then check all the wash arms for any contamination, particles, junk anything that could restrict the flow of water through them, it sounds like the wash arms are not rotating because of no water flow. Good luck !

Dishes not getting clean, white film

Hello cljjtm,
You will need to clean the wash arm and unclog the spray holes.. use white vinegar to break down the soap deposit and a sharp metal tool such as an awl to free these holes up from any build up.. white vinegar may be applied while unclogging the openings..
Then, once the spray arm holes are freed of deposits..Start with an empty dishwasher.. and then start a wash on the hottest available setting and then after a few minutes of it cycling.. pause it and add a cup or two of white vinegar to the wash ( the white vinegar should break down any soap residue and allow it to be rinsed away)..once complete.. use about 1/3 less detergent than you have been. See if that gets your DW back in working order.. Hope that helps..
Regards,
Rick

Maytag washer won't spin out

Before you try to take the panel apart to remove the timer you need to check that the electrical connections to the pump are o.k. and whether the pump is getting power when it's time to drain. If you have to replace the timer you need to take the back panel off first.
