Question about Peavey Rockmaster Guitar Stage Pack - Black (3006530)

1 Answer

I was just playing my guitar, and everything was fine. Then, I sat it down for 5 minutes, and when I came back, all the sudden the "Tone" knob was loose and wiggly. Is there any way to fix this easily without damaging the guitar or knob?

Take the screws out of the pickguard assembly and raise it up enough to get your hand in there, pull the knob off the tone control, now hold the back of the pot (tone contorl) with one hand while you retighten the nut that holds the tone control to the pick guard, tighten the nut with a pair of pliers being careful not to scratch the pick guard, put the pickguard back in place and put the screws back in. You might want to check all the other controls to make sure they are tight or the same thing will happen to them The Peavey Rockmaster set up is a nice guitar and amp

Tone knob and switch info

the switch, has three positions. Typically forward or up will be your neck (or rythm) pick ups, only and will work with one volume knob(usually top right as your looking at guitar), and one tone knob ( top left as your looking at the guitar). when the switch is in the far right or all the way down position, that will be the saddle (or lead) pick-ups. And that works with only one volume knob(bottom right as your looking at the guitar) and the corresponding tone knob. when the switch is in the middle position, botjh volume knobs work and both tone knobs work. You've gotta kinda play around with them to find whatever sound yopur looking for. and tone knobs are very subtle in their changes. good luck

Well, my Ibanez TBX150R Tone Blaster Xtreme Guitar Combo Amp worked fine for the longest time, and suddenly after a show, every time I turned it on the "hot" channel it popped and banged every...

Sounds like a problem with the channel itself, if the clean channel works then its not the lead, input, guitar or the drivers. You have to be careful when opening up amps as some can hold a residual charge and there can be danger of electrocution.

I would recommend getting it looked at by a pro, it doesn't sound like an expensive fix.

The pickup on my epiphone pr5 booms if i play loud, and if i tap the body anywhere it scratches and booms even with new battery

Sounds like you are using incorrect settings on the amp you are using. Try all tone controls at 12 o'clock as a start. Excess bass boost is a good way to have the problem occur. Also back off the volume control. "Handling" noise or scratching from handling the guitar is NORMAL for this type pickup. Back down the volume and DO NOT boost the highs or lows to help with the handling noise problem.

FM 65R plays and sounds great for about 5- 10 minutes then it sounds weak and distorted. If I play directly into the power amp input it sounds great again just no control for the volume and tone.

Also the volume will probably be lower going into the line level PA input... If the amp is shutting down for thermal reasons, driving it less might not get to the point of shutdown. The schematic shows a temp sensor that reduces and shuts down the amp if the heatsinks get to hot. Possibly you are driving the amp harder than it is intended, If it is as loud (I doubt it) driving the PA input, then I would expect it to shutdown, but you would probably have to drive it harder than your guitar because guitar levels are well below line level. The amp claims 65 watts... don't believe everything you read in spec sheets... You should be able to generate 100 Db of sound with it... The more distortion you use will drive the amp harder and heat the heatsinks faster.

The amp plays fine for about 15 to 20 minutes, then an extremely loud, over powering hum/buzz takes over, and then the amp has to be turned off, but the problem persists. I've tried several guitars,...

You say the "tubes are fine" I take it that you have either replaced them with new or used a very sophisticated tester on them. A heater-cathode short might cause the symptom. There are a bunch of tests I would want you to run alnd get back to me with the results.

Heat up the amp but DO NOT play anything into it for the usual failure time or more and they start to play i... did hum occur WITHOUT playing? With all volume controls down does the hum occur?

The right tools is an oscilloscpe to fing out if the filter caps are good. These are C31, C33, C35, C36.

With hum present in failed stater, plug in a grounded plug into the power amp in jack... if hum is stiil there, check the +/- 16 volts regulating Zener for ripple. get schematic here:

No problem, washburn sn04100049, anybody know anything about the reason they are natural wood?

generally natural wood is very predictable in its tonal qualities. Mahogany produces a nice mellow tone (were speaking acoustic guitars here). spruce has a brighter tone. natural wood is also more esthically pleasing (pardon my spelling). there is nothing wrong with composite and man made materials, its more a matter of taste. I prefer solid wood myself, but have played ovations which are fiberglass backed and they are fine too.

Replace the batteries in the guitar. As they near the end of life they will collapse and then recover some if the load is removed for an hour. Also, check the amp is not the problem... often times they have a heat sensor that backs them down till they cool off. Hve another guitar to immediately try with the amp.

I have a variax 700 modelling acoustic guitar, On occations it just dies ie,no power or sound. I disconnect everything plug it all back up and still nothing. If I leave disconected for an hour or so...

I don't have a Variax but it sounds like an IC (integrated circuit) inside the guitar is getting hot and until it cools down, it does not function properly. Try the Line 6 website to find the nearest repair center. Good Luck!
