Question about Bernina Bernette Deco 600

1 Answer

My husband bought me a bernina bernette340 for Christmas,2010. i was thrilled, he had given me a choice between a bernina or a baby lock and eve though i own a baby lock sewing machine & serger and have had them for many years with NO problems whatsoever i opted for the bernina because of the reputation that went with the name.after having that machine repaired 5 thmes for the same problem with the bobbin case jumping out of alignment, the dealer generously gave me their demonstrator because bernina would not authorise yhem to replace the one i had with a new machine. after 6 months that one is now doing the same thing. i have been a sewer more than 60 years i do not believe i am the problem.needles to say if i could go back to when i had the choice of bernina or baby lock i would have made a different choice. is anyone having the same problem ?

Let me start but telling you that a deco 340 is a good machine and should be sewing great.
First check your threading, make shure you have the presser foot up when you thread the machine. Sounds like that could be the problem.
If you are sure you are threading it right and it is still not working. It could be a timing problem. I had a lady come it with that same problem and it was timed incorectly. That machine needs to be timed to a 1.8mm loop lift. Most machines are set to 2.0-2.3mm. I would ask your teck about this and if he does not now this and is not willing to set it to 1.8mm I would find a new bernina tec.
hope this helps
Remember your machine is only going to work is you have a good teck.

Where can I get a manual for bernette fun lock 006D

Serger manuals for early machines are really basic.

Thread in order.

upper looper, lower looper, right needle, left needle. (see the inside of the looper cover door.)

Adjust tensions to suit the fabric you are sewing.

If you need to change colors clip threads near the spools and tie on new spools to previous threads and draw threads through an already threaded machine.

Bernina is the brand. But I believe early models of the serger were made by Juki. I've looked for the manual for 006 as well and found thinging. Your only other choice is find someone who has one for sale and ask for a scanned copy.... or order a new one from Bernina or one of the other places that has one.

I was just given a Pro line model BL4-738D. It belonged to the mother of a friend of mine. Mother passed away, friend does not sew. It does have an instruction booklet I could copy and mail to you. This machine is 22 years old. Does that sound like it would work for you? email

Where to oil and what kind of stitches can it do.

I found my answer by going to the dealer here and asking questions. They were very helpful and friendly. Said that if I need any more help to let them know. I bought a Bernina from them about a year ago. I really like it.
