The LCD screen on my Panasonic DMC - TZ2 has gone a ghostly purple and all the pictures come out completely distorted or badly lined. Often the lense will not close after trying to take a shot. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Hi, my Panasonic Lumix DMS-TZ2 is making horizontal lines over the pictures that I take. What is the cause of that?

Not sure it is on every picture you take, but digital cameras doe have problems with bright lights in a dark environment. From such a light bright lines can go horizontal. If in normal light, your camera does not have the problem, I guess you now have an explanation.

Panasonic lumix tz8 takes white photos

Some symptoms of a defective CCD include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

A CCD problem would explain the lines on your pictures and the lines on the LCD (since the CCD is used to feed the live image). CCD (Charge Coupled Device) is one of the two main types of image sensors used in digital cameras.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value. This last step occurs outside the CCD, in a camera component called an analog-to-digital converter.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details:Bad CCDs. This, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

I have a DMC-TZ2 that from today started to distort the image taken from the sensor. In mode "review" the lcd screen works perfectly so I guess is the sensor. When turning on the camara on...

You cannot fix this yourself as the sensor has failed.

If the camera is under warranty send it back for repair. If it isn't then write a firmly worded but polite demand to Panasonic anyway demanding a goodwill repair. The sensor is only about four years old and has certainly failed prematurely and there are now plenty of precedents in the digital camera industry for putting such faults right out of warranty.

Unfortunately this is and will remain a common fault with all digital cameras. Sensors can fail at any time from the day of manufacture, but on average should last an absolute minimum of five years.

I have a DMC - TZ2 when I turn it on the screen is blank when I take a picture it is the same totally blank, dosen't matter which setting you put it on all the same (blank).

Hi,
This is caused by a bad or loose ribbon connector to the LCD screen...the only way to fix that is to take the camera apart and reconnect the ribbon connector.
You also can do a search for camera repair and send it away, but often the costs are more then the camera is worth...

If you do try to repair the camera be advised that there are dangerous voltages inside even cameras...be careful!!

My lumix dmc-tz2 is taking photos that are blurred with a purple haze and dsometimes with white lines throught them...please help

You have to change the lens assembly, if you are lucky enough to buy the parts cheap on ebay. If it is contact resistance problem, you can just pat it in any direction to see if the image is improved.

How do I take b/w or sepia pictures with my Panasonic DMC-TZ2 camera?

Go into the menu and find "filters". Black and white is one of the choices.

Purple Screen

If it is only 2 months old, then you still have warranty.
A purple lcd, viewfinder and photo is a 100% CCD failure.
If out of warranty, not worth the repair.
