Question about Nikon Cameras

1 Answer

My lens is out of alignment and won't close (actually, it won't move at all). It's a coolpix S210. Can I force it back into alignment or should I take it in for repair?

Best disassemble and fix.
Sure some roller pin is out of place and a strong guide.
The force can cause irreparable damage.

My cam fell on the floor, and ive seen its lens misaligned.i cant use it anymore ....on screen,,,, it appears LENS ERROR....pls help me,,,im in laguna area,,,and i dont know where to find nikon repair...

Your camera lens is already misaligned, so that Lens Error occur, it will not disappear unless the lens is disassemble, aligned the mechanism of lens ( the proper synchronication of mechanical parts) and assemble.
If you cannot do it, send it to the your nearest camera service center, call them first if they can accept repair on your Nikon Coolpix S210, how much, if repaired how many months will be the warranty.
I hope my advice help you.

Here are some ideas. Once I solved such an issue on a camera that had fallen down on a hard floor (by applying force on the lens to make it retract)..but please read everything here first *before* you try that:

Nikon S210 pictures always out of focus

Is the lens clean? Are you pressing the shutter button half-way and giving the camera a chance to lock in the focus (it will beep) before pressing the rest of the way? Do you actually move while pressing the button? Try taking a few pics while the camera is on a tripod or a firm surface to eliminate movement.

Hi!
It sounds like the lens focus is stuck. If you don't have experience in camera repairs, you should give it for a repair to your local Nikon service center or other camera service center.

hi...The transmission system that moves the lens in and out has a problem with it's gears. There is most likely a gear or an actuator that has fallen out of alignment and is getting stuck at a certain point as the lens comes in/out.There is some disturbacnce of the lens arrangement that is preventing the lens from coming in/out.Any of these symptoms above could trigger the camera to shut itself off to protect itself from further damage. thank u rate me!!!

try these:-
  • connect it to pc and on it
  • vaccum the barrel of lens
  • changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
  • shake it.
  • on and off in different positions
  • hit the part near lens softly with palm (trust me this made mine work)

My coolpix s210 has lens error

I'm sorry to say, but the lens is knocked off alignment from the gears. Thats what the grinding noise is. Fixing cameras these days is pointless. Average repair cost is above $100 dollars.

If you want to be technical you can fix it by taking it apart. You may have to order new parts depending if the threads on the gears are worn down. On a scale from 1-10 (1 = easy and 10 = hard), this would be a 9 if you are an average camera user. My advice would be to buy a new camera. I'm very sorry to say. This is an issue that is not covered under the limited manufacture's warranty.
