Your laptop will have built in wifi already. once you get the new laptop it will ask you to select a network to connect to connect to your network .if it doesnt the little set of bars on the bottom next to the clock is your wireless click on it once nad it will open up to select to your network.

Laptops have two adapters that work independently so even if your wireless works your lan may not. For your lan, (wired), network adapter first try to install the latest updated driver. Go into device manager ( right click my computer and choose/ properties/ hardware/ device manager ) scroll down to your network adapters and look at the properties/ driver and note the driver date and version. Next go to your laptop manufacturer and search your model under downloads to find the latest offered driver. If it is newer than the one installed on your computer go ahead and install it and that should fix your problem. If that doesn't work post back here with more information and we can go deeper into the problem.

My Toshiba Satellite's wireless won't work. It

Try the properties of your Network controller. And go to your Internet Protocol Version 4 and 6 properties. Sometimes you have to change from Auto Obtain to manual and back again to get the IP addresses to correct themselves. Hope this helps.

Wireless networks not found

Sometimes Satellites get a little flaky when on battery power. If you haven't already, plug in the power cord with the notebook cold - meaning off for about a minute. Boot the notebook and try to do the setup with the power connected. If that solves it, it should work fine when you switch to battery power. If it doesn't, repost with your results.

I have a Toshiba laptop that won't connect to my home wireless system, after I took it to college and used the wireless system there

Does your laptop even see the network? If any security has been set up on your wireless router, you'll have to set up a new wireless connection on your computer. The easiest way to find the settings (SSID, encryption, password) is to look under the wireless network properties of a computer you already have running on the wireless network.
