Question about Rival SD165 Dutch Oven Electric Skillet

Open Question

I only used my rival SD165 B non stick electric skillet "twice" and it bubbled up the coating on the sides at both ends! I never had the temp above 350.Rival needs to send me a new one with a better coating of non stick that won't do this. They must have had some complaints about this. SOURCE: Rival Electric Skillet S16G

Hi, Your skillet is either defective or someone has left it on high with nothing in it. Either way, if it is still under warrenty, I would try and return it. As there is some debate about the toxicity of teflon, I would be very careful about using this unit any further.

If you are going to keep the skillet, try using steel wool to remove the loose teflon, maybe even sanding it all off if you want, then polish with fine steel wool and use the skillet as a regular uncoated electric fry pan.

Hope this helps, and if you found this response satisfactory, please vote. Thanks and good luck.

DO YOU HAVE A NON-STICK SPRAY TO COVER THE SURFACE

I would NOT attempt to resurface this product. Throw it away and repurchase a new one. I believe the resurfacing products on the market are a health hazard.

Rival model s12gn skillet

This is quite a comprehensive list of small appliance part suppliers. I recommend you go to this site, once it opens in your web browser, press "Ctrl f" which will open a little word search window. Type in "rival" in the space and click "next". Each time you press next "rival" will be highlighted in the next company that sells their parts. You should then be able to find the web-site for that company by scrolling down a bit further.

Non-stick surface coming off

I find that in viewing this site that the listed " solution" is not a solution at all! This skillet has a defective design and coating and should be recalled!
