I believe you can set a range stop in installer mode, the instructions are here but if you have difficulty ask your installer as if you don't know what you are doing you could stop your system working by changing the wrong settings in installer mode.

The fault symbol is flashing and the red light is on, how do I determine the fault and how to reset after fault is found?

You can get an operators manual on Robertshaw's web site. The fault could be that it's too co;d outside for the heat pump to be efficient. Once you get the manual you'll be able to find out exactly what's wrong.

Your thermostat is reading the temperature where it is located.
If it is located next to a heat source maybe it is picking up that added heat .
Try relocated your thermostat

if you thermostat doesnt use batteries and it has no power, that means there is a problem with the air conditioing system itself. 90% of the time it is a safety switch such as a float switch (drainage problem), which cuts the power to the system to prevent damage to your house from condensate water leakage or just further damage to the system itself. Call the a/c guys, this is going to require expertise.
