Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Crosley CR248 CD Recorder and mistakenly put a blank DVD in the CD recorder and it will not eject. The unit is "locked" in "CD loading " mode and will not allow any other functions to operate. How can I get the blank disc out of the recorder? Thank you for your time.

Look for a small hole near the front of the cd drawer, use a pen to push the small button inside, and the disk should come out. some cd recorders don't have the button, but they are inside, you need to open the case to get at it and the push it to eject the cd/dvd one other thing you might try, is to unplug the unit from the wall (power) and then plug it back in, when it first powers up, push the eject button and it may come out then

CD will not finalize

No-way should it take that length of time to finalise anything. My DVD recorder only takes about 3 minutes at the most to do a 4 hour disc! CD are only 80 minutes max. I suspect you have an electrical fault on the unit. I would take it to the nearest Crosley Repair place.

CR 248 cd tray will not open

It possible that a belt has broken or come off. You need to look inside. If you need a new belt just measure the diameter in MM and search Google for the nearest size to your measurement.

If you go to your Internet home page and type "Crosley Songwriter CR248 user Manual" into the search window and press your enter key, you will be taken to
a page where you can download a copy of the manual.

Why does my crosley turntable/cassette player/cd recorder cuts off when I play it?Whenever I try to record from a cassette to a cd it cuts off.

I would suspect that you have a bad record laser in the CD recorder assembly, this is common, and this is usually what it is. To this end you would need to replace this unit's laser assembly, it will/may still play a CD OK, but will not write to the CD, as they are two separate lasers. So if you wish to try to repair you will need to contact Crosley and ask them what to do, ask for a referral to an authorised service center or perhaps even return it to them? In any event ONLY ask for a "Quote" first and see how much it may cost before proceeding.

I can not get my Crosley CR248 Songwriter to Finalize when I try to transfer from cassette to cd. It keeps showing me FAIL....

I don't know this particular machine but here are some general comments.
Most CD recorders need you to press (and sometimes hold) the record button followed by the play button before tehy actually record anything (if you don't press the play button you will still hear sound via headphones etc. but no recording file will be created)
Does it record from vinyl records okay or is it just cassettes?
Are you using the correct sort of CD?
We use a Denon CD recorder and it only works with AUDIO CDs - computer data CDs or CDRWs will not work in it. Even if the Crossley will accept computer CDs it may require a particular format either +ve or -ve (labelled CDR+ or CDR-) to be compatible. Once you have tried finalising a disk and it has failed you cannot use the same disk again.

Crosley Radio CR246 CD door will not open

Try checking these:

- the CD door motor rubber drive belt (if there is one), it could be either loosened or broken, if so, it needs to be replaced

- the door open/closed sensor switches (contacts), they could be oxydized or damaged, they are located somewhere under the CD tray, possibly at the front end of the unit (depends on brand and model), you need to clean these with some fine sandpaper

It could be something else like the door motor driver IC, the power supply for the motor, a bad capacitor in the motor drive section, a loose connection or a broken wire somewhere, but hopefully, it's just a bad rubber belt or a dirty contact.

Hi, the crosley will no longer record onto any music cdr/rw. It will indicate that the cdr is blank-i know it is- then the zeros/record appears but no recording takes place. thanks if you can help.

I turned it off for two (2) hours - turned it on and it worked. Apparently this unit overheats after one session: one (1) cd-r per session then shut-down.
It is worth it, when it works, because my lps have no hiss when finalized.
