There are two square holes on the outer side of the wheels. Use a flathead screwdriver in these to release the latches. Turn the powerhead over and carefully lift the back of the cover off and pull back slightly to lift off. To remove the brush and/or replace the belt, remove the tiny screw on each end of the brush and lift brush out.

Found the square holes after removing the four screws, but nothing I do will release the cover. What's the trick?

I just tried, and realized it's the cover plate on the opposite side of the screws that releases from the unit. Four screws, releasing the square-hole latches, and turning the unit over did the trick.

Does the electrolux discovery 11 have a filter?

The Discovery II was manufactured in 1986 originally and remade a few years later. The earlier ones did not have any extra filters but can be added like the later ones. There\'s a pre-motor filter that can be added and an after bag filter kit available as well. These help to keep the "fine" dust to a minimum and are helpful to any allergy sufferers. Hope that helped!

Replace belt genesis upright

Turn vacuum upside down on flat surface, remove the 6-7 screws from the bottom of the power nozzle, lay it on it's side and pry on the two accessible internal tabs to pop top cap of the nozzle off to access the pn motor assembly. Lay flat on it's back again and remove the screws that hold the roller brush in, remove the roller brush, remove old belt, install new belt on brush roll and pn motor geared spindle, push brush roll back in place, replace screws and pn top and VOILA!..you're back in bidness! Hop that helps!

I have an electrolux discovery II vacuum cleaner and the floor function works, but when I try to switch over to carpet mode, it doesn't seem to engage.

There is a red reset button on the back of the machine. When it trips, the brush won't engage. Press the reset button and then try your machine again.

I have an Elextrolux Discovery Advantage(upright) . I need to replace the lower hose. Unfortunately the hose comes out of the roller/feeder area fine but I believe it is held in with a screw in the...

It's simply screwed into the tank. Simply unscrew in a clock-wise direction to remove. To install the new hose, screw in in a counter-clockwise direction. This is opposite the direction normally used for regular screws.
You don't need to dismantle the tank at all.

Electrolux 1572E (Discovery II) How to remove suction motor cover?

Remove the handle assembly by taking the big screw out and pull up on the handle. Remove the four screws where the top half connects to the bottom half. Two on the outside back and two on the inside front where the bag goes. You'll need a long phillips #2 screwdriver. Always have the power disconected. Pull up on the bag housing while twisting it side to side.
Good luck after you get in.

Can't remove motor cover for electrolux EL2050

usually there are screws on the bottom, normally 6-12 screws. Once they are out, there may tabs on the outside of the base fram, lightly use two flat head screw drivers and pull the cover away from the base.. be gentle as this plastic is thin, and could break. You will also need to make sure that the handle assembly is in the down position as the cover can get caught up in the handle when you try to remove it.
