Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I used my dryer 5 times and on the 6th it just quit. Now nothing. The light went out and it won't turn on at all and the timer doesn't work either. But before that all was fine.

I first check for blockages that would make the dryer overheat and remove themI used my dryer 5 - themobilian_1986.jpgthemobilian_1988.jpgthemobilian_1989.jpg
After removing the clogs I go ahead and find the duct fuse.
This is a non resetable fuse which kills power to the dryer when it overheats.

Sounds like the heat coil has went bad you can pick one up at a appliance store, but the cost would be close to buying a used dryer, also check and see if something has gotten on the coil and shorted it out I had a dyer one time that I found a little dead snake on it,I removed it and it work for many years good luck....

Dryer wont turn on

try to spin the inner drum. You could have a broken belt. if it spins really easy, that's probably what it is. There should be some resistance when you turn it.

Electricial problems wrong voltage used . have a kenmore dryer, sent dryer to europe and was connected to two circuit like in the US but the voltage in europe is 1 curcuit 240 volts and 2 circuit 400...

The dryer has sone things inside that require 110 volts. Specifically the motor and the timer. Therefore if by some chance that you haven't yet damaged anything, it still will not run until you have a 220 volt center tapped transformer to similate US power (220 volts with a neutral). Also, since the foreign power is 50 Hertz, the timer will run slow (5/6th speed) as will the motor. And the motor, being designed for 60 Hertz, will run unusually warm.

Operation light and timer light blink 5 times?

I don't know if this is the proper technical solution or not but my unit was having the same issue. I cleaned it checked fuses made sure the cover was properly in place and nothing worked. As a final thought I went to the home fuse panel and tripped the breaker for the unit, waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on. I did this with the unit set to off. When I came back and turned it on, it is working properly with the operation light solid red.
