Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

We had a flood in our basement. about 1 foot. after the flood we put cloth in the washer and turned it on. the control panel lit up but nothing happened. no water went into washer and the door locked. can't get the door opened. Is this washer shot. someone told me to check for a reset button. The washer is only 2 years old. Is it worth trying to fix

Hi Daniel. It is located in the basement. It is a Whirlpool Duet Sport but I cannot find a model number on it or in the manuals. I imagine that it is in the door panel but I can't get it open

    Hi Daniel,

I did both and nothing worked. There were no clogs in the filter but there was water in the drain pipe after the filter. I guess that is to be expected. I unplugged and tried again as if I had just put a new load in. controls seemed normal. When I pushed the start button I head a click, but no water when into the washer and nothing happened. Water source is working. I'm wondering if the motor is burned out.

Hi daniel, I finally got the door open by reaching up and pulling a manaul swithch. the model number is wfw8300sw04

    Hi Daniel,

I looked over the chart but couldn't determine the part that I need. I noticed a switch located at the bottom left corner of the unit that looks like it is disigned to shut down the washer if the lower panel is taked off. the part number is AP4261665. There is also a wire coming out of the pumb assembly that looks like it has a swithch built into it. That does not show up on the diagram you provided.

Thanks....press and hold the END OF CYCLE/CYCLE SIGNAL button for 15 seconds to reset the control, if this wont work then take out the bottom front panel and clean the drain hose-filter for any clogs. This washer door gets locked if it is unable to drain completely.

Basement got about 4 inches of water. Washer will turn on, but does not function.

Sounds like the Motor Controller on the left side of this Pic may be the issue. The Drain Pump/Pressure switch is on the left side of the Pic. I feel the drain pump may not work after the basement flood. You can get into Service Mode and try to turn it on from the Console once the machine is dried out.

F/ll blinking is there a switch in case of flood?

If you had a flood and any water got into bottom of machine, you have probably shorted out a motor control board. These board are either in the lower back right or front left corner bottom. A qualified service tech should be called to do this repair.

My basement flooded and now my gas water heater

Was the gas valve under water? If so it must be replaced. If not, and you're sure you are holding in the button for at least 30 seconds after the pilot is lit, the pilot will need to be removed disassembled and cleaned. Also, the thermocouple may or may not be bad, replace it anyway (for the cost @ Lowes etc just not worth it).

Samsung front loading washing machine won't spin out.

I have the exact same symptom with mine that is only 4 months old. I have a technician coming as soon as the part is available. The problem is the PCB control board. Samsung has corrected a known issue with the original and has manufactured a new one. This is a known issue and thus the part is hard to get. I have, however found a temporary fix. Unplug the machine for about a half an hour. I haven't figured out how long to do it exactly but when you plug it back in it should read PF for power failure. It's the equivalent of a reboot for your pc. I got about 3 days of service from the machine before it stopped spinning again. Another reboot and I'm back in business.

Unplug the machine. Remove the bottom access panel (three torx screws along the bottom). Reach up under the area where the door lock is and feel for a round door release mechanism. Pull down and the door will unlock

Blinking lights and failure to start

Suggestion: 1 Press and hold down 'spin' & 'dry' buttons to unlock controls. 2 Have u overloaded the machine with clothes? Reduce load. 3 Try 'spin' only after putting the clothes. Then put off machine & continue with main cycle. Three suggestions here........ What is the clothes capacity of the machine; try to limit within capacity. Try the "spin only" function aft putting the clothes. Then put the machine off & continue with the main cycle.

Flooding

La Trisha, There could be many reasons for the leak, however usually all leaks are visable. Your model is a direct drive pump and motor and I have seen a lot of these pumps go bad and leak. You will have to remove the front panel. There should be 2 clips, one on each side of the washer top. Push a putty knife in these clips and the front panel should pop out from the top. Now you will be looking right at the pump on the bottom. It is held on with 2 clips and 2 clamps, a real easy fix. When you remove the front panel, let the washer fill a little again and see if the water is pouring from the pump. You will also be able to get a look at all the other hose attachments. The part number for the pump is 3363394. Good luck..
