Question about Washing Machines

Open Question

I have a Maytag LAT8650BAW top loading washer - came with the house, my guess is it was bought in late 1990s. It is now leaking during washing cycle. Do you have any advice you can give on how I can work out where the leak is, and whether it is worth fixing or I have to replace the washer?

SOURCE: Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim

SOURCE: Maytag washer leak

the stem kit, boot seal is worn and leaking. if not repaired soon the bearings on the tub and on the brake package will start to rust and sound like a train going by. After 15 years of service its probably time to replace. Call your local service company and get an estimate on replacement of the seals and weigh that against the cost of replacement of machine. hope this helps. please come back and rate my answer.

SOURCE: washer leaks from bottom during rinse cycle

Take the cover off the back, and look up, next to where you put the soap in, when it's filling/rinsing. There is (like) a (white) plastic valve body, and look to see if water is dripping out of it. I haven't figured out a solution to that yet, other than to replace it.

Also check the boot, coming off the pump. You could have a bad/dry boot, or a loose hose clamp.

SOURCE: Top loading maytag washer leaking water during wash cycle

Hi, There are two spring clips located in the gap between the top and front panel. They are the edges.
If the pump and hoses aare ok, fill the washer with water and look up toward the center of the tub abd transmission area. It migth have a seal going bad.

I hope this helps.

My Maytag bravo is leaking out of the rear left side, any ideas?

I think I'd be checking the dispenser in the left rear for a crack or rub mark. Also the hoses going to and from the dispenser. They are plastic and fragile.if the top has been lifted or an extremely
off balance load ,one may be damaged.

We had the same problem. There was a pinhole leak in the hose that connects the tub to the pump. Bought a new hose for under $10 and fixed the problem ourselves.
