You will need to add those certain friends to a group.

  1. Sign into Facebook.
  2. Click on the Friends link in the top navigation.
  3. Click the "Make a New List" button on the left hand side of the screen.
  4. After you have given the list a name like " Work" or what ever you may choose to call it go to your facebook chat on the bottom of your screen and there will be a little green button next to the group name. Click that to "Go Offline" to that group of friends.
I hope this helps.

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I am online on Facebook, but I cannot chat with friends, I am showing offline. HELP, PLS!

If you do not see your friends
Step 1 - look at the bottom right hand corner of your facebook page, it will say chat offline. Click that button and then all your friends will appear on the right. Step 2 - There is a little circle at the bottom of that list. Click the little circle and check off "Available to Chat".
However, If you already see your friends just follow step 2.

Chat is disabled how to make the chat able?

If your chat is disabled, you will need to log out first. When you sign in once again, the chat will be available. If it is still not available, scroll down, looking at the left side of your browser page (facebook). You should see 'friends on chat'. Click on any of your friends to start the chat. However, if your chat goes 'offline', double click the 'chat offline' bar, located at the bottom-right of the browser. Hope this helped.

Is it possible to access my own facebook account without everyone else knowing I'm on it?

No one knows if you're logged in or not unless you post something or if your Facebook Chat is active. You can try disabling your Facebook Chat so no one will know you're online, or you can also make a Friend list, and put it in "Offline Mode" in chat and put people that you don't want to see you online.

To disable Facebook Chat, follow these steps:

1. Click on the small person icon in the Facebook chat tab located in the lower right corner to open the Facebook chat application window.

2. Click on the "Options" tab in the Facebook chat application window.

3. Click on "Go Offline." By clicking "Go Offline" only a couple of things will change: you won't be able to see who is online and they cannot see that you are online. You can stay on Facebook without receiving any more annoying pop up chat messages. The small person icon in the lower right-hand corner will now read "Offline."

4. Once you have clicked the Offline option, you remain offline in future Facebook sessions automatically unless you choose to go back online. You have now successfully turned off Facebook chat.

To create a Friend list refer to this link:

Hope this help. Goodluck!

My friends chat box will nor come up..he cannot chat anymore

  • Maybe he went offline. Click on the chat button on the bottom right. Then go to "Options" and press "Go online"
  • Maybe he created a Friend list and went offline to that particular friend list. Click on the chat button on the bottom right. Then go to "Friend lists" and enable them all.
  • Maybe he got blocked from using the chat feature. https://www.facebook.com/help/?page=41 . In that case a penalty time will be imposed and your friend wont be able to chat until that time is over.

Im online on facebook but i appear offline to my friends im so frustrated ;i cannot chat also. please help me

Hello thanks for using fixya
Actually your status on Facebook is as "Offline", thats why you are not able to chat with your friends and you appear them as "Offline"
To chat with your friends and make you visible you have to make your status as "online"
For this sign in your Facebook account, when your home page will open, On the left side down on the page there will be written that "you are currently offline to chat with your friends "Go online". Click on it and your status will become online.
To demonstrate it physically here given is a Picture which will surely help you out

Tried to look for a way to view who's signed on to Facebook Chat without having Facebook chat activated. Sometimes Facebook chat is a nuisance, and just want to turn it off. This way, i can turn it off...

'Appear Offline' lets you do that! Allows you to see who's signed on to Facebook Chat without having Facebook chat activated. You can poke and send Facebook messages to your online contacts from the Appear Offline page.

On the lower right hand corner of your facebook site you will see the chat window (of facebook ) minimised.Click on it and on the maximised window you will see two tabs - 'friends' and 'options'

Click on options - go offline

You will not be visible to your friends
