Bradford White 40 gal water heater, works fine, but has started whining when not in "low" setting. Seems to only do it during showers, or when temps drop outside etc. Only lasts a few minutes

it is possibly a high frequence '"water hammer" from a failing tap washer
call a plumber to replace all the tap washers especially the shower hot water tap washer
water hammer is when the water flow is intermittently interrupted ( (normally as banging pipes) but when it is fast it appears as a whistle or squeal

Sheared hammer pin, stuck hammer or failure of a bushing or washer. A sharp tap with a rubber mallet in an area not likely to be damaged can sometimes free stuck hammers, if not it's a disassembly.

Baxi banging noise

noise in water pipes is called water hammer and is when the water flow pulsates from an inconsistent flow. Water has mass and when stopped suddenly there is a pressure build up which moves any loose pipes. It can be fixed by putting more securing or mounting saddles on the pipe to hold it steady or you can get a pressure accumulator and it takes up the pressure build up and stops the noise. It is most prevalent when sudden stop taps are used such as ceramic taps or stop cocks and less so when you have to screw down the tap to shut off the water.

Have1989 nissan hardbody and carbarator runs a steady stream of fuil when trying to crank doesnt stop. Whats wrong

Hi, the likely problem is a stuck float valve. If you tap with a small hammer on the carburetor float bowl near where the fuel line attaches, you may be able to reseat the valve, at least temporarily. As a long term solution, I would rebuild the carburetor. In the process, you would get a new float valve. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

If you can fit a good sized flat head screw driver behind to help you wedge the rear rotor off, this may work with the hammer to tap it along. A crow bar may even work if you have the clearance. Remember, when tapping the rotor out, rotate it each tap to make sure it comes off somewhat straight.

The trailer ball is rusted into my trailer hitch. Any solutions?

Tap with a hammer - a little WD-40 or Liquid Wrench - tap some more.

Good luck with this "sticky" problem.

Why would a blower work sometimes and sometimes it won't on a 97 lesabre? When it does work, it will start on high and then fade out until it stops. How hard is a diy fix?

If you have a Volt Meter you can check the voltage to the fan motor. If the motor voltage drops you may have a bad fan switch, if your voltage stay's steady you have a bad fan motor. If you do not have a Volt Meter, when the motor starts to slow down tap on the motor with a small hammer lightly. If the motor speed picks up you have a bad motor.

Check the horn relay is ok,
Check the horn ground is ok.

Place a trouble light across the horn supply- when horn is pressed it should light up steady.
If it lights up, the voltage to the horn is ok -then a replacement horn should fix it.

Can't remove the chuck retaining screw.

Place drill in vice with chuck in vice facing up . Clamp chuck lightly but with enough force to hold firmly.
put allen wrench in chuck and lightly tap down to make good fit to allen screw head.Clamp chuck jaws down onto allen wrench lightly to hold wrench steady. Take piece of pipe to end of wrench,10".
These chuck screws are tight. Hammer clockwise until screw brakes loose.Open chuck completely and remove screw.Chuck is threaded to spindle shaft . Place allen wrench with long end facing out of tool in chuck and tighten chuck securely. With hammer tap allen wrench sharply counter clockwise ( normal thread.)
