Try downloading driver checker and see if it can find and install the right driver for you. Here is a link for you:

http://www.drivercheckercom.com/download/drivercheckercom_setup.exe

Also, when did the speakers stop working and why? Did you install a new operating system on it?

Let me know how you get on and if you have any more problems give me a bell

No sound on hp laptop

Step 1:

Ensure your speakers are not muted. There should be a hardware button that enables them if they aren't already.

Step 2:

Ensure your laptop isn't muted on the operating system

Step 3:

Go to Device Manager and see if the speakers are listed under the Sound tab. If there is nothing there or a yellow symbol, go to http://www8.hp.com/au/en/support-drivers.html and download the appropriate sound drivers for your latop

HP pavilion dv6000 speakers wont work

If you've check the Audio and Sound properties in the Device Manager then maybe the speakers are shot. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Sound or Audio and check the properties and settings. You can also click the Megaphone at the bottom right near the time. Make sure the Volume is turned up and not on Mute.

You can look on ebay and purchase replacement speakers based on a HP DV6000 Speakers search. You'll have to take the laptop apart to install them.

You could try downloading and reinstalling the Audio Drivers.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HP Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Audio drivers.

Try using the VLC Player. It comes with drivers and codec. I've seen it solve many sound issues.

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Download and install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It's a very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formats and media. It's totally FREE.

I have an HP Pavilion M50 monitor with polk audio speakers. I don't have the original power supply for the speakers. I have tried several 9v power adapters and none of them seem to work. What power...

if it requires 9volts then it should be good. no problem with your windows vista. its just that your speaker wont power on. maybe you got to have the wrong polarity. try to recorrect the polarity. i mean put the negative to possitive and positive to negative. if the wire has a color put the black to red and red to black.

My insignia speakers want work with my hp computer i need software to download them

speakers do not need any kind of software to work, it's a problem with your computer.

You should try to update your sound drivers, and plug the speakers into the right sockets (green). make sure to set your sound card to the main sound output device.

The Sound in my Laptop is not working.

Try uninstalling and then reinstall the sound drivers. If that doesn't
work it's probably a hardware issue.

I have a HP tower and compaq monitor, does this affect the speakers on the monitor? Since I changed the towers out the sound hasn't worked

HP and Compaq are actually now one company. So depending on the age of your tower and the age of the monitor they should be compatible.

First you should check the small speaker icon located in the task bar in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Is there a red circle with a line through it?
First check your connections to the speakers. There are a couple ways to get the audio signal to the speakers so make sure you have a connection that can carry the signal. The primary one is through the Green Audio Out jack on the back of the tower to the Green Audio In jack on the monitor. HDMI cable can also carry a audio signal.

Still no signal?
If not left click the icon and make sure the Mute Box is not checked.

Signal?
If not then right click on the icon. You will be given two choices from a small pop-up dialog box (Win XP and Vista OS), click on Adjust Audio Properties. Click the Advanced Button in the lower right side of the window that opens. Again a small window will open with Speaker Setup choices at the bottom. Go through the list and pick Monitor Mounted Speakers or if Stereo Monitor Stereo Speakers.

If there is a red mark through the icon follow all the steps above.
Remember to reboot your computer after every change.
Additional you may need to go to HP to update your monitor and sound drivers.

In the Adjust Audio Properties, at the top click on the Hardware tab. Now click the Properties button at the bottom. A window will open that should say "This Device Is Working Properly". If not then it's a driver issue. Click on the Driver tab of the same window and click Update Driver button. Sometimes this will work great sometimes not so great and you will need to manually install the drivers.
Let me now if you need any thing clarified or if you are still having trouble after trying the above.
Hope this helps.

SPEAKERS

Hi Jonathan,

Pls check if the cables are connected to the right port.
Also check the monitor volume settings.

Pls check with a set of powered speakers.

Pls run dxdiag from Run in Start menu if you are using windows.

Also you can check for any issued with the drivers or any driver updates.

Pls try a system restore also if none of the above steps work.
